We were lucky to catch up with Angels Near Death LLC recently and have shared our conversation below.
Angels Near Death, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Angels Near Death LLC was founded by filmmaker Hungyu Kuo with a clear purpose. Originally, it was a motion picture production company created to produce Kuo’s debut feature, Angels Near Death. As the project developed, the company’s identity became more distinct. Angels Near Death LLC exists to support films rooted in imagination, emotional honesty, and creative risk-taking. The company reflects its founder’s values and aims to create work that feels authentic, vibrant, and artistically bold.

Angels Near Death LLC is the production company behind the feature film Angels Near Death. The company oversaw the project from the initial stages of script development through funding, pre-production planning, principal photography, post-production, and now marketing and distribution efforts. Its responsibilities included every key phase of filmmaking, such as budget management, creative direction, scheduling, crew coordination, and delivering the final film.
As a fully operational motion picture production company, Angels Near Death LLC continues to support the film’s festival and distribution strategy while expanding its slate. The company plans to develop additional projects in the future, with the long-term goal of producing original films that showcase a strong artistic voice and a commitment to meaningful storytelling.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, the three qualities that shaped Angels Near Death LLC’s journey are creativity, integrity, and adaptability. Creativity enabled the company to solve problems with limited resources; integrity kept the work honest and emotionally authentic; and adaptability allowed it to adjust quickly when plans changed. For those just starting out, these qualities develop through consistent practice, staying connected to your purpose, and accepting change as a natural part of the creative process.
All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
The biggest challenge Angels Near Death LLC currently faces is finding the right sales representative and distributor for a micro-budget debut feature. Without the resources that larger productions depend on, the company must be more creative in how it markets the film, reaches audiences, and positions itself in the industry. To address this, we focus on building relationships with boutique distributors, attending markets like AFM, expanding our press presence, and developing a long-term marketing strategy that aligns with the film’s unique tone and identity. Limited budget has pushed us to be resourceful rather than discouraged, and that resourcefulness is becoming one of the company’s key strengths.
