Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Angie Escalante. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Angie, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?
There have been times in my journey where I’ve been the only person in the room who looked like me or shared my perspective. Rather than seeing this as a disadvantage, I’ve learned to see it as an opportunity to stand out and make a unique impact.
For example, in leadership roles and collaborative spaces, I’ve often had to navigate situations where my voice was different from others. In those moments, I leaned into my strengths being prepared, staying authentic, and building connections. By focusing on the value I bring to the table, I gained confidence and turned any feelings of self-doubt into a motivation to excel.
Over time, I’ve realized that being “the only one” isn’t a limitation; it’s a chance to challenge norms, foster inclusivity, and create a space for more diverse perspectives. It’s taught me to embrace my identity and use it as a platform to inspire others to do the same.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m Angie Escalante, a Drexel University student majoring in Management Information Systems with minors in Organizational Management and Finance. My journey has been shaped by my drive to explore new opportunities and connect with people in meaningful ways.
One thing I’m really proud of is my work as a content creator. I’ve collaborated with brands, professionals, and peers to create authentic, engaging projects that build connections and tell unique stories. For me, it’s more than just creating content it’s about using my voice and creativity to bring ideas to life and leave a lasting impression.
What makes this work special is how personal it feels. Every project challenges me to push boundaries, learn something new, and share a piece of myself with the world. From hosting events that foster connection to building campaigns that inspire, I’ve found so much fulfillment in creating experiences that matter.
Right now, I’m focused on growing my skills and continuing to explore how I can combine creativity, leadership, and technology to make an impact. I want to inspire others to take on challenges, embrace their passions, and create something they’re proud of too.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three qualities that have had the biggest impact on my journey are ambition, resilience, and communication. I’ve always been driven by a desire to grow and achieve more. Whether it’s in my studies or in the projects I take on, I’m constantly challenging myself to push further. This ambition has kept me motivated even when things get tough. Resilience has been another key quality for me. There have been plenty of moments where I’ve faced obstacles or setbacks, but instead of letting them stop me, I’ve learned to pick myself up, learn from them, and keep moving forward. Life’s not always smooth, but I’ve found strength in those hard moments. Lastly, communication has played such an important role in my journey. Whether I’m working on a team, creating content, or simply trying to express my ideas, being able to connect with others and share my thoughts has opened so many doors. If I could offer advice to someone just starting out, it would be to embrace these qualities. Stay ambitious, bounce back from the setbacks, and always work on being able to communicate clearly and authentically. These things have been the foundation of my growth, and I know they’ll continue to be as I move forward.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
The person who has been most helpful in helping me overcome challenges and develop the essential skills I needed to succeed is my mom, along with my sister. My mom has always been my biggest support system, teaching me the value of hard work, resilience, and self-belief. Whenever I faced obstacles or doubts, she was there to remind me that challenges are part of the journey, and with persistence, I could overcome anything. Her work ethic and positive outlook have been a constant source of inspiration.
My sister has also played a huge role in my growth. She’s someone I can always turn to for advice, encouragement, and a fresh perspective. We’ve faced challenges together, and she’s shown me the importance of leaning on those who understand you. She’s always pushed me to be the best version of myself, and her unwavering support has been just as crucial in helping me navigate difficult moments.
Together, my mom and sister have shaped my approach to life’s challenges. Their guidance, strength, and belief in me have been foundational in developing my resilience and confidence, and I’m incredibly grateful for their constant presence in my life.
