We were lucky to catch up with Angineh Meserkhani recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Angineh, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My work ethic is influenced by my mother, who has always been my source of inspiration. She is determined and whenever she sets her mind on something, she achieves it. Success doesn’t come easily to anyone, but with hard work and a genuine willingness to put in the effort, one can achieve their goals. These are valuable lessons my mother has imparted to me and continues to reinforce.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
As a small business owner specializing in small bites, salads, cheese, and charcuterie, the concept for this venture blossomed during the covid when dining out was restricted. This inspired me to create exquisite cheese boards for customers to pick up and savor at home or at a park. As word spread and demand increased, customers began requesting larger cheese displays, sandwiches, and salads. While my mother and I had previously crafted elegant table settings for family gatherings, this endeavor required us to innovate and expand our business from takeout boxes to elaborate tables. After careful consideration, we decided to take a leap forward, leading to the creation of Briehappyboards.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
In any profession, understanding your audience and the services you offer is crucial. Communicate with others in the industry to grasp the essential requirements. For example, consider if insurance is necessary or if culinary expertise is needed to set up an appealing table. Continuous learning and perseverance are key to overcoming competition and enhancing your skills with each endeavor in my opinion.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am always open to collaborating with other businesses, as I have in the past. Specializing in providing food and setting up elaborate tables, I am eager to partner with various businesses such as florists or shops selling kitchen or decorative goods like Goodies LA, one of my favorite stores. Previously, I have teamed up with florists to create stunning table arrangements while I handled the food. I am enthusiastic about collaborating with a variety of cheese brands to explore their products. Starting as a simple cheese-in-a-box concept, my business has evolved into something greater. Furthermore, I am open to collaborating with businesses of all kinds to merge different or similar worlds together.
