We recently connected with Aniah Morrison and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Aniah, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
I struggled for a long time to develop the confidence I have now.
To be honest, as a child I was way more confident because I didn’t care about outside opinions as much but it was also always surface level or materialistically. My grandfather was my biggest supporter and he always made sure I felt protected and had whatever I wanted if I worked hard for it but after he passed away when I was 15, my confidence went with him. I felt lost in the world and so small because the one man who instilled and poured so much into me and taught me how I should be treated, was gone.
I went through a downward spiral of relationships and friendships that negatively affected my self-esteem and self-worth and made me feel smaller then I already had felt.
With the ending of my previous relationship in 2023, I realized I wasn’t living for me I was just surviving and trying to please everyone around me but then I started going back to church and reconnecting with myself and God and through that process I saw that I buried so much of my real self.
Since reconnecting with God and myself I discovered so many talents I had hidden or forgotten about, so much knowledge I had inside of me that I was letting stay dormant because I was scared to be bigger or think bigger than my surroundings and potentially lose the people around me.
Now I realize that my confidence has nothing to do with anyone else and everything to do with how I feel about myself and if the people around me get offended for me loving myself, growing, and not accepting the bare-minimum, then they weren’t meant to be around me in the first place.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Currently I am the owner of Touch Of Love Cleaning Co. an affordable and efficient cleaning service that is designed to help individuals get back to being their best selves by giving them newfound confidence with a clean space and hopefully a clearer peace of mind.
It makes me happy to help other’s and to make them feel better in this aspect because if you don’t have a clear mind then you won’t have a clear life and home is where peace of mind starts.
I am also 1/3 Founder and Owner of The Women In Business Organization,
Our mission is to connect with women starting a business, already established in business, or just needing a community of women to support them.
Our main goal is to empower women and to bring like-minded women together in a predominantly male dominated workspace to network, cultivate, create, and grow our businesses through the power of sisterhood.
We had our first WIB Luncheon on August 10th at the new Indigo Lounge and Event Space and it went off phenominally!
We met and connected with so many women and it was an all-around great experience, we have more events coming up soon as well.
I also have been dabbling with starting my food business- Casa De La Nani’s Skratch Kitchen
which isn’t fully off of the ground but I want it to be a place where people can get affordable gourmet meals made from scratch and with love.
My dream as a child was to always open my own restaurant and share my food with the world- shout out to The Princess & The Frog as my motivation.
Myself and Catering By Jalyn -another co-founder and owner- actually catered our Women In Business Luncheon together and everyone loved it!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
If you’re just starting in your journey, 3 pieces of advice I can offer to you is:
1. Always believe in yourself and bet on yourself:
It’s going to get hard and a lot of people you think will support you, won’t. You can’t take it personally you just have to acknowledge it to yourself and move on. People can only meet you as deeply as they’ve met themselves.
2. Walk by faith and trust God:
When you don’t know what’s around the corner it’s very easy to get discouraged or apprehensive about if this is the right path for you but always keep in mind that God chose you specifically. Remember what you’re capable of and KNOW that if this wasn’t meant for you to do then the opportunity would never have presented itself to you.
3. Hard Times Don’t Last but Solid People Do.
Stay focused and don’t get so caught up in the journey just enjoy it while it lasts.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m always looking for like-minded individuals to collaborate with.
People who are focused on their futures or want to build something that doesn’t just benefit them but also the community because we don’t really have a lot of community in our society anymore.
I am always reachable through my social medias or by phone/email.
