Meet Anie Delgado

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Anie Delgado. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Anie below.

Hi Anie, so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?

I have what I call magic hours. Usually between 8 and 10pm. For me, this is optimal time for relaxation and manifestation. I can spend magic hours doing a number of different things. Sometimes, it’s journaling and manifesting my dream life. Sometimes it’s putting together an aspirational mood board or vision board on Pinterest. Sometimes it’s doing a tarot reading. I’m usually doing this in bed after doing all of my skincare or in a warm bath. I love this time to relax and recharge in a productive way. Our thoughts become our reality. I find dedicating some self care time to dreaming up my next big thing has been so effective.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a pop artist. I make pop music for the girls who feel too hard and love too deep. My song Mátame just released and my EP hopeless is coming soon as well. Stay tuned for an exclusive pop up event and show in LA to celebrate it.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I think work ethic, collaboration, and marketing are the three skills I use the most in my day to day as an artist. Of course skill as a songwriter and singer is of utmost importance but second to that is having a strong work ethic. Being an indie artist is all about getting your reps in whether it’s writing enough songs to find the one that’s right for you right now or making content to market your music. It can feel unrewarding at times when things flop but having discipline and work ethic is so important so that you continue to show up authentically. Second collaboration. Because I don’t produce my own music (yet! I am learning), collaboration is so important. Learning how to explain my vision and collaborate has been a game changer in getting the song to sound like I want it to, Lastly is marketing. We love to hate it but getting your name out there every day is so important as a small artist. Especially in my genre, I am competing against gigantic major label budgets every day, so my strategy is to build community online until the masses catch on.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

I am reading the Artist’s Way right now. Starting morning pages has proven to be so valuable. It allows me to prepare myself for the day and open myself up to ideas flowing through me. I am currently in chapter 6 which deals with abundance mind set. This has been so valuable. When you practice abundance mind set, you move differently,
