Meet Anita Ivancevic

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Anita Ivancevic. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Anita with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic absolutely comes from my mom and dad, Goran & Nermina Ivancevic. At a very early age they instilled in me an appreciation for excelling at whatever the task at hand is. I grew up with the mentality that no matter what you are doing, regardless of how big or small, be the best you can be at it. This has served me well in my academic career, professional tennis career and now in my business. With a good work ethic comes discipline and due diligence. All of which are instrumental ingredients to success.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I feel most excited about designing and creating gift wrapping masterpieces for our clients! It truly brings me so much joy to learn about their special occasions and then design away. Incorporating various elements, colors and textures is where the magic happens. The best compliment we can get is that the recipients did not want to open their gifts because they were too beautiful. Our gift wrapping designs tell a story which unfold as the recipient engages with their gift.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The 3 skills and qualities that have been instrumental to the success of Dallas Gift Wrap Creations have been: my resilience, tenacity and ability to pivot. My biggest piece of advice to anybody starting out is to find something you truly love doing and that you have a gift for doing. If you don’t love what you are doing those really hard days will become unbearable and you may quit. Also, let your talent guide you and be prepared to pivot should the market or client needs change. Don’t be so set in your ways of how you think you will achieve your goals. Everyday clients will surprise you and help shape your brand and identity as an entrepreneur.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing my incredible parents did for me was instill in me this idea that ANYTHING is possible! And it truly is, I am living proof. In spite of very humble beginnings here in the states — escaping from a civil war, not being able to speak English, watching my parents struggle — none of that was a deterrent or dare I say, an excuse for not excelling. It does not matter where you begin you have the power to write your story and reach your full potential.
