Meet Anita K

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Anita K a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Anita, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

From the influence of family, loss, and self-discovery woven into the fabric of resilence and growth based on;

-Family influence-resilient father, shaping my approach to challenges.
-Relationships with love and loss, and the importance of turning inward for healing and frowth.
-Self-compassion-coining “benevoliefs” gave me a framework for acceptance and empowerment.
-Ogoing growth-my benevolent self beliefs now guide all areas of my life.

Growing up with Immigrant Parents
My immigrant father’s unwavering positivity and loving guidance shaped my belief in perseverance-trying was a requirement, not an option and this example taught me to handle setbacks with strenghth and grace and face those areas that are the most painful.

Love, Loss, and Turning Inward
My first love and husband showed me that true opennnes comes from self-reflection. In fact, we both had to learn this. Our divorce pushed me to rebuild my self-belief from within.

The Birth of “Benevoliefs”
In this rebuilding, I created “benevoliefs”- compassionate, empowering beliefs about myself rooted in kindness and self-love. Embracing these benevoliefs encouraged me to let go of my former views and conditions that no longer felt fitting to a new path of growth.

I use benevoliefs to lead and manager all areas of my life.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m an author and coach passionate about guiding others on their upward journeys. As Head of Operations at a technology startup I helped launch, I’ve gained invaluable experience navigating both personal and professional challenges. Soon, I’ll be launching my coaching practice focused on the startup space—equipping clients with the courage, insight, and practical strategies they need to achieve their goals. I’m excited to leverage my unique blend of leadership, entrepreneurial, and coaching expertise to help others thrive. I will be continuing to share my content in/on various platforms as well!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Three statements have profoundly shaped my thinking:
“I can’t help you,” “Don’t look for an orange on an apple tree,” and “When I got busy, I got better.” Each taught me to rethink my approach to challenges and decisions:

“I can’t help you” reminded me that change must come from within.

“Don’t look for an orange on an apple tree” taught me to accept people and situations as they are, not as I wish them to be.

“When I got busy, I got better” showed me the power of action in overcoming stagnation.

My advice: Stay open to new perspectives. Don’t cling to beliefs just for comfort. Challenge your thinking, seek better alternatives, and be willing to let go of thoughts that cause pain. Personal growth begins with the courage to see things differently.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

My parents took out a second mortgage to send me to a private college. This was impactful becuase they said, “Money comes and goes, but an investment in yourself no one can take away. The self pride you will learn and keep building on is the foundation for your future. “
