Meet Anita Mays

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Anita Mays. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Anita, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I believe in hard work, dedication and going the extra mile to achieve my goals. I strive for excellence in everything I do, from selection of ingredients to the presentation of my baked goods. Baking is not a job, it’s my passion, the smallest detail can make a big difference. Consistency is key to building trust with my customers.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My story begins with me the little girl who was always in the kitchen with my mom as she was baking, I would lick the bowl and the beaters. As I got older I realized I wanted to bake and I did just that. I started my bakery business. I’m focused on being the best person and baker I can be. I want the high paying customers, I want the corporate accounts, and guess what?? I am going to get them.. What’s special about my bakery: PASSION, I provide fresh made desserts you will love.
MY brand/logo: If anyone has ever seen my logo you will see a “rose” over the “i” in Anita, that rose represents my mother, who is watching over me everyday from the heavens above, her name was ROSE..
I just recently launched my website: anitassweettreats.com, please take a look and sign up for my email list.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Having a strong foundation in baking techniques, flavor profiles and recipe development. It’s important to experiment with new ingredients learning about different baking methods and staying up to date with industry trends, Attention to detail is essential in baking business. Precision in measurements, following recipes accurately. Paying attention to the smallest details such as decorations, texture and flavor can make a significant difference in the overall customer experience.
