Meet Anita Scruggs

We were lucky to catch up with Anita Scruggs recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Anita, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from the crucible experiences of life itself. Initially, I held the belief that resilience was an innate quality, but life has been a reminder that true resilience is an acquired skill, a constant adaptation, and a test of resourcefulness. My journey has been shaped by a multitude of experiences, each reinforcing my conviction that every season has purpose. Resilience, to me, is not a measure of how much adversity one can endure, but rather, how adeptly one can navigate through life’s opportunities, release the previous version of ourselves, and expand the current one.

As a child, I often felt a deep responsibility to be “good” so as not to add further difficulties to our lives. This had an incredible impact on how self-sufficient I became. As a teen, I faced the sudden and profound loss of a close friend, an experience that taught me the value of facing your challenges rather than avoiding them with self assigned coping habits.

My resilience was further honed as I supported my spouse through a harrowing battle with cancer and raised a son with special needs, all while safeguarding my own mental health. These experiences have provided a relentless opportunity for me to sharpen my resilience. Reflection has proven that things do improve, and in the meantime, pour energy into what you can control

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My journey into the world of branding and marketing started with my fascination with standing out in a crowded marketplace. From a self-taught website creator to a proficient web designer and brand coach, I became dedicated to helping individuals and businesses carve their distinct niche in the competitive world of branding. I embarked on a mission to create websites that were unlike any others in the market, and ignited my ability to craft distinctive brand identities that resonated with authenticity. This also requires my clients to embrace their authentic selves, which led to my discovery of limiting beliefs, the power of our subconscious mind, and how to use hypnotherapy to reprogram any limits that we have adopted.

The beauty of helping others is experiencing the power that it has on your own journey. I have now expanded my roles and partnered with my husband to create a automotive consulting agency, and pursued my passion of having a plant nursery. While my plans of creating a mediation haven are in the works, I have moved forward with the soft launch of an online plant shop known as One Beleaf Away, while still hosting private clients who desire hypnotherapy.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Relevance, Discipline, and Application. Those three things are crucial for any area of your life that you desire to improve.

Identify what is relevant to where you’re going so that you avoid feeding things that are distractions.

You won’t always be motivated. Discipline will make solutions a priority… and not emotions.

Knowledge is only as good as it’s application. There have been times that I only had surface knowledge of a thing, but used my resources for the application to get results. There have also been times where I had an abundance of knowledge, but lacked the application, so I lacked results.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
My biggest area of growth the past 12 months has been releasing the need for external permission.
