Meet Anna Brown

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Anna Brown. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Anna below.

Anna, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

I keep creativity alive by persisting each day and never giving up. Every day brings new opportunities and some days are more inspiring than others but I just take it as it comes and do as much as I can in the moment. I expose myself to as much positivity as possible to keep new and creative ideas coming.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

As a gift and thrift shop owner I work hard to curate a special shopping experience for our customers. We carry many different gift items such as jewelry, candles, candy, house plants and cards, as well as health and wellness products and some pantry goods. I love to focus on locally made products from our area and highlight other local businesses inside my shop. Our Thrift Shop is another fun experience for our customers where the inventory is constantly changing. We love to offer “new to you” items through the Thrift Shop. We’re constantly having different events and sales- we’re looking forward to our anniversary weekend on Mother’s Day weekend.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back I can see how my journey has brought me to where I am today. I worked for many local businesses that were hugely impactful in my understanding of business. Once I began my own business I made sure to get to know other entrepreneurs and make connections with them by learning about their products or services. Most importantly I’ve strived to serve my customers to the best of my abilities. This means that even if I can’t help them through my own business I can refer them to someone that can help. I would encourage anyone going into business to stay curious and always look for ways they can improve.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

My faith is a huge part of who I am. I say all the time that my path was made through divine intervention. I truly believe God has led me on my journey and cleared the way for me. Being a business owner with a brick and mortar store has been very challenging but very rewarding. My faith has encouraged me to continue to do what I love even on the hard days.
