Meet Anna Flowers

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Anna Flowers. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Anna , we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?

I spent the first 16 years of my life in a very sheltered and strict religious upbringing. This lead me into a very controlling and misogynistic cult run by an ex-Marine named Jim Roberts. Using the tactics of isolation, hunger, sleep depravation and fear I was trapped from my late teens to my early adulthood until I found my courage to escape.
I very shortly stumbled into the arms of someone who went from being charismatic and charming to very controlling and abusive once we married. Having been ill prepared for the world and taught subservience to men I was easily entrapped. Years later when I finally had enough I escaped my ex-husband. I find myself a single mother of two children with no work history, no collage education, and very low self esteem. I had to find work, put myself through collage and raise two children on my own. It was a nearly impossible situation and one that taught me a lot about myself and what I was capable of.
Four years later, when I finally felt I was all I needed, I met my current husband and things got easier. Even so I have worked insanely hard to get to where I am today, and I am very grateful to finally have the opportunity to follow my dreams. Because the things I have survived and overcome both emotionally and physically have given me a huge heart and a ton of empathy. I believe that is why it comes easy for me to be generous towards others.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

My company is a luxury band that focuses on clothing to empower and inspire others. I consider myself an artist first and foremost and love pushing boundaries and skirting the line of taboo while still being classy and elegant.
Here at Anna Flowers Designs we have a large focus on our community from the musical arts, to the cat shelter, to helping women reach financial independence.

Because of my past I am very passionate about helping women, especially women in the arts to become financially independent. We offer large commissions to our ambassadors with a tier structure to earn more. We also have several upcoming clothing designs that have portions of proceeds going to fund things like design school fees for an up and coming designer and opera schooling. Also we always donate a gown to the local cat shelters annual gala.
It is my goal to bring my community together and use every opportunity to support and build each other up.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I learned to sew when I was 13. Because of my unconventional path in life I have had to teach myself most of what I know. When I started down this journey there was no YouTube with tutorials on how to do things and I couldn’t afford lessons. Most of my skills came trial and error using second hand garments donated from friends.

I think the most important three qualities and skills I have learned are tenacity, passion and perseverance. Because I mostly learned through trial and error. I threw away more than I kept in the beginning. It was my perseverance and my love of the craft that kept me coming back. Then slowly over time the magic happened and I realized I was keeping more than I tossed.
As far as advice goes I guess you have to ask yourself a few questions. How much do you love the thing you want to do? How much are you willing to suck at it until the day you don’t? How much time are you willing to dedicate to making it the thing you do the best? And at what point are you willing to risk all and say its this or nothing else?

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Currently I am looking for models, influencers and photographers who love what I do and want to become ambassadors or collaborators. They can email me at info@annaflowersdesigns.com with their first and last name, IG user name and a brief description of how they want to be involved
