Meet Anna Romanenko

We were lucky to catch up with Anna Romanenko recently and have shared our conversation below.

Anna, thrilled to have you on the platform as I think our readers can really benefit from your insights and experiences. In particular, we’d love to hear about how you think about burnout, avoiding or overcoming burnout, etc.

As a content creator, burnout can be a real challenge, but I’ve developed several strategies to manage it effectively. First, I prioritize taking regular breaks and setting boundaries to ensure I have downtime away from work. I also make sure to engage in activities I enjoy outside of content creation, like spending time outdoors or with friends, to recharge my energy.

Another key approach is staying organized and planning my content in advance. This helps me avoid last-minute stress and allows for a more balanced workload. Additionally, I stay connected with other creators for support and inspiration, which helps keep my motivation high. Lastly, I remind myself of why I started creating content in the first place, focusing on my passion and the positive impact I can have on my audience.”

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I run Instagram and TikTok accounts dedicated to photography and videography, where I approach strangers and offer them free photoshoots or videos. What excites me most about my work is the spontaneous and genuine connections I make with people. Capturing authentic moments and creating beautiful visual stories is incredibly rewarding.

What sets my content apart is the element of surprise and the joy it brings to those I photograph. It’s not just about the photos or videos, but also about the experience and the memories created during the shoot. I aim to make every encounter special and memorable.

Currently, I’m working on expanding my reach and experimenting with different styles and locations around Florida. I’m also planning a series of themed photoshoots that will highlight the unique culture and scenery of the area. Stay tuned for more exciting projects and collaborations coming soon!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

1. Creativity and Vision: Having a clear vision and the creativity to bring it to life is crucial in content creation. This has allowed me to approach my work with a unique perspective and stand out in a crowded field. For those starting out, I recommend experimenting with different styles and techniques to find your unique voice. Don’t be afraid to take risks and think outside the box.

2. Technical Proficiency: Mastering the technical aspects of photography and videography, such as understanding lighting, composition, and editing, has been essential. This knowledge allows you to execute your creative ideas effectively. Beginners should invest time in learning the basics and continuously practice. Online tutorials, workshops, and hands-on experience are great ways to improve your technical skills.

3. Interpersonal Skills: Approaching strangers for photoshoots requires confidence and strong communication skills. Building a rapport quickly helps put people at ease and results in more genuine and compelling photos. To develop these skills, practice approaching people in everyday situations, and work on being open, friendly, and empathetic. Volunteering for community events or collaborating with others can also enhance your interpersonal abilities.

My advice for those early in their journey is to stay curious and persistent. Embrace learning opportunities and be patient with your progress. Building a successful content creation career takes time and dedication, but with the right skills and mindset, you can achieve your goals.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed, I take a step back to prioritize tasks and break them down into manageable steps. I also make sure to take regular breaks to clear my mind and practice mindfulness techniques like deep breathing or short walks to reduce stress. Seeking support from friends or family helps me gain perspective and stay grounded. Balancing work with hobbies and personal time keeps me energized and focused.
