Meet Anna Stewart

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Anna Stewart. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Anna with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I believe my work ethic comes from intrinsic motivation, for I am driven by internal rewards and personal values.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am the Manager of the Drowning Prevention Coalition of Palm Beach County (DPC). I’ve been with the DPC for 20+ years. I am most excited about what I do because I don’t mind getting up in morning to come to my job. How many people can say that? My passion about water safety and drowning prevention is stronger than ever, for as a non-fatal drowning survivor I have personal skin in the game and don’t want others to experience what I did as a child.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Reflecting on what I’ve learned from interactions and observations, I believe the following is crucial for one’s success and development: Having a curiosity to learn and explore new things while keeping an open mind, being able to adapt and adjust your responses to new information and changing circumstances, having the persistence to overcome obstacles and setbacks, and being open to feedback, experimenting, and reflecting on your experiences to see how your response to situations can be improved.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

The Coalition is always looking to collaborate with other organizations and persons who have a passion for water safety and drowning prevention. Being in an organization of two people, it is essential that we have water safety advocates to help disseminate our life saving information.
