Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Annarose Quinn. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Annarose, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Well, resilience isn’t something you’re born with, it’s something you build. For me, it came from a place of inexplicable pain and the desire to turn that pain into purpose. There were moments when I felt incredibly vulnerable, but I found strength in my experiences and the support of others. When I started 50fifty, I was really just trying to make sense of my own experiences and find a way to help people who have been through something similar. Every challenge, every setback, every moment of doubt – it all chipped away, shaping the person I am today.
I think a big part of my resilience comes from the people around me – my friends, family, and the incredible community we’ve built at 50fifty. They’ve been my constant source of encouragement, pushing me to keep going, even when it felt impossible.
I’ve always been a bit of a fighter. Though, ultimately, I believe resilience is a muscle you can strengthen over time. It’s about learning to adapt to challenges, finding solutions, and persevering through adversity. And sometimes, it’s simply about taking things one day at a time and celebrating small victories.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My name is Annarose, and I’m the founder of 50fifty! I started this company because I wanted to create something that would make a difference. As a survivor of sexual assault, I know firsthand the impact that such a traumatic experience can have on a person’s life.
50fifty is more than just a clothing brand; it’s a platform to raise awareness, support survivors, and empower individuals to take a stand against sexual violence. We’re committed to using clothing as a force for good, and I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished so far.
In addition to clothing, I also speak at universities and Greek life organizations about creating safer communities and how we can do this together. It’s incredibly fulfilling to share my story and empower others to make a difference.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
That’s a great question. I think the three most impactful qualities that have shaped my journey are:
1. Empathy: Understanding and sharing the feelings of others is essential for building strong connections and creating a supportive community.
2. Passion: A deep passion for the cause has fueled my drive and determination. It’s what keeps me motivated to make a difference, even when faced with obstacles.
3. A Desire for Change: After my own experience with sexual assault, I was determined to create a positive impact. I wanted to change the narrative around survivors and empower others to share their stories.
For those early in their journey, I’d say find what you’re passionate about. What really lights a fire in you? Once you find that, you’ll have the drive and motivation to make a difference. Remember, even small steps can lead to big changes.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
The past year has been a whirlwind of growth and learning. I’ve had the incredible opportunity to launch two amazing capsule collections, one with Karaline Soncrant and another with Kalyn Wood. Working alongside these incredible individuals has been incredibly inspiring and has pushed me to grow as a designer and advocate.
I’ve also had the chance to speak at various universities, primarily to Greek Life organizations. Sharing my story and educating young people about sexual assault awareness has been incredibly fulfilling. It’s given me a platform to make a difference and inspire others to take action.
Through these experiences, I’ve learned the importance of connection, empathy, and perseverance. I’ve also gained a deeper understanding of the power of community and the importance of supporting one another. It’s been a challenging but rewarding journey, and I’m excited to see what the future holds.
