Meet Anne Gabriele

We were lucky to catch up with Anne Gabriele recently and have shared our conversation below.

Anne, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?

I believe that the universe is always listening and responding to our desires. I remain open, grateful and receptive to the signs and opportunities that come my way.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m an artist and a freelance photo stylist. My work with cyanotype and more recently ceramics, is inspired by the natural world from the ocean to the garden. Throughout my career as a photo stylist, I have had the privilege of collaborating with talented creatives. I have been fortunate to work in diverse environments that constantly challenge and inspire me.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

One of the best skills I learned was how to be self employed – knowing how to manage my finances, taxes and saving for retirement.

My styling career supports my fine art practice. I agree with Elizabeth Gilbert from her book “Big Magic” to not burden my creativity with the responsibility of paying for my life. Having that income has kept my creativity free and safe.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron “Serious art is born from serious play” .
When I am blocked, I will remind myself to play and suspend expectations.
