Meet Annie Korzen

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Annie Korzen. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Annie below.

Annie, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?

At 85, I am often the oldest person in the room – but that does not prevent me from sharing my thoughts. My advanced age has given me life experience and wisdom that I feel confident will inspire others.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I have been helped by honesty, humor, and stubbornness. My 400,000+ TikTok fans tell me they admire my “authenticity.” By that, I think they mean I admit to my imperfections.

Do not be crushed by failure; instead, use it as a learning opp. How can you do better next time?

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?

My own hypersensitive personality can be a hindrance. I go into a blue funk when there’s a lull in activity. I must keep reminding myself that there’s usually a new opportunity just around the corner. You just have to ride out the blah periods, and keep being as creative as possible even when things are at a standstill.
