We were lucky to catch up with Annika recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Annika, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Finding my purpose is/has been a long journey—and honestly, it’s something I still think about every day. I’ve always loved singing and performing, and I felt a strong pull toward the arts. But for a long time, I had no idea how to turn that passion into a real career.
A life-changing accident shifted everything for me. It gave me a new perspective on life and made me start thinking more deeply about why I’m here. Without that experience, I don’t think I would’ve truly believed that music could be my purpose.
Since then, making music has helped me grow so much, both creatively and personally. It excites me to think about how much more I’ll grow now that I’m taking it seriously. I still struggle with imposter syndrome—probably always will—but little by little, I’m building more confidence and starting to believe that this path as an artist is my purpose.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My name is Annika Catharina, and I’m a singer-songwriter from British Columbia, Canada. I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember, and performing has always been something I’ve been deeply passionate about. Music is everything to me—I honestly can’t imagine my life without it.
I recently released my debut EP “You and Me”, which includes five songs: “You and Me,” “Bandit,” “What If I,” “Dishonest,” and “Love and Hate.” The EP explores all the highs and lows of love and heartbreak—the good, the bad, and everything in between. It means so much to me, and I’m so happy that it’s finally out in the world.
I’m also really excited to announce that my next single, Under Covers, is coming out on August 1st. This song shows a different side of me, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Three skills that have really helped me are hard work, patience, and passion. I’ve always worked hard for the things I want and try my best to give it my all. Loving what you do makes a huge difference—it keeps you motivated even when things get tough. Patience is also extremely important, especially in the music industry. Things don’t happen overnight, so learning to trust the process has been a big part of my journey.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
Over the past year, I think my biggest area of growth has definitely been my songwriting. I’m really proud of how far I’ve come with it—not just in terms of the lyrics or melodies, but in learning how to express myself more honestly and confidently through my music. I’ve started to trust my instincts more and not overthink every line, which has made the writing process feel a lot more natural and rewarding.
Alongside that, my confidence has grown so much. I’ve become more sure of who I am as an artist, a person and what I want to say, and that’s had a big impact on everything from performing to making creative decisions. It’s been a really exciting and empowering shift.
