Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Anny Olinger. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Anny , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Undeniably, I’m an ongoing work in progress, and I’m fine with never hitting the ‘finished’ line. After all, isn’t confidence just fear’s cooler cousin? Who knows when life might throw a curveball that requires a confidence level I’ve yet to unlock? I hope to welcome it with an open invitation for me to grind and level up, leading me to boost my self-esteem. To give you a vivid picture, let’s go down memory lane to a couple of years ago. The scene is me feeling perpetually lousy from a year-long spectacle of medical tests, popping pills and becoming way too familiar with the clinic’s interior. The plot twist? My life had turned into a medical mystery, with no concrete answers in sight.
It’s at this point that I took matters into my hands. Acting like my primary medical detective, crunching data, and sifting through a truckload of articles, I stumbled upon the embarrassing truth: I was the villain in my own plot. My health disaster? Self-inflicted by less-than-great choices in my past.
You bet your boots it was a wake-up call. I had to rally, pull up my imaginary socks and make bold moves to rebuild that old house called ‘confidence’ and spruce up the garden that is ‘self-esteem’.
After coming across an influencer’s medical struggles, and having done my own research, the missing pieces for the puzzle finally guided me back to my silicone stunners – the breast implants I’d cheerfully gone under the knife for a few years back. Turns out, they were about as safe as anything else in life can seem to be. Unsettling much?
It was a bitter pill to swallow – acknowledging that my quest for a ‘perfect’ physique had sidelined my health. It’s a bit like seeking world domination but losing sight of the fact that you can’t fly a spaceship.
Fast forward to today, I hit rewind and look back on the wild ride. Life did a 180 when I opted for yet another surgery last year – this time to bid adieu to the implants. Surprisingly, while they were being carved out, I stumbled upon a treasure trove – a lost sense of self-esteem buried under layers of vanity, and a newfound voice that roared loud enough to echo into the hearts of all women.
The moral of the tale? Celebrate your body, ladies! Whether it’s the souvenirs from nurturing a new life – the stretch marks from pregnancy or boobs that bear witness to breastfeeding, and even just changes that time ushers in. We must chin up, shoulders back, and embrace our unique design!
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Originally from Brazil, I was always fascinated with the English language. When in High School, the opportunity to study abroad seemed like a no-brainer, the move however, it did not come without the challenge. While in Junior year, when on Spring vacation, my husband, Gabriel, and I met at the beach – it was love at first sight, and within a month we were planning our happily ever after. We married lakefront 2 years later, and became parents right away. Along with being one proud mom of two of my favorite people, and a dedicated house wife, as the years passed, it became evident to me – and all those around, that I possessed a natural and passionate talent to organize, manage projects while constantly looking for ways to create beautiful spaces.
In the recent years, my husband and I, who by the way was my numero uno cheerleader in morphing my talents into this entrepreneurial dance, have merged out talents and ventured out in different sectors. From building A-frame tiny homes from scratch for glamping, to carsharing cool vehicles, and currently focusing on advanced technology, through Global Training Solutions, to offer medical Virtual Reality training to government personnel – while running a Nonprofit located in the Tampa are, in our 5-acre farm-like lakefront property. The Alabaster Land, gladly opens up our nature-based space for people to rest, gather and celebrate, all via donations.
This daring journey that I’ve undertaken, also included time as his spouse while in military service, in the mean time I’ve dedicate time to study my favorite areas: Business & Design. My pursuit in these various businesses will be channeled to follow my dream to work as an Interior Designer. Each season brought me a unique perspective, along with its lessons – and we’ve had to pivot vocations, deep down I sense it’s all in preparation for this purpose I desire to ultimately fulfill. Holding on to the belief, that all happens in its due time and nothing is wasted. I intently keep up with the latest trends but persist in grounding myself in a down-to-earth approach to projects and design, that allow for everyday life to be lived fully and carefree.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Pondering back on my journey, the main thing I’d always encourage others, is to not give up too soon – persist and insist, it may sound cliche, I know, but I wouldn’t even be writing and sharing my story with Voyage had I decided to quit in defeat on my first six months in America – which in all fairness, it was hard beyond my expectations. But on the flip side, worth every effort.
A second distinct quality to develop is based on the golden rule – treat others as you want to be treated. In short, be kind. Most importantly to you first, if your treatment to yourself is poor and harsh, then with those that are in your quotidian, a reflection, an identical mirror image, if you will. Rather, think of how you’d appreciate good deeds, keeping in mind that people in your life deserve to receive the best regards in every sense, not our worst mood swings, meannesses and complaints.
In closing, I have learned to fight hard on not judging, especially on first impressions. Prejudice, aka as preconceived ideas of others we encounter, are easily formed in our brains for whatever reason. By taking time to actually listen to them and glean their story, can be key in sabotaging our go-to responses, allowing us to put walls down and shifting way of living.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Collaboration can be an excellent way to get ahead , for all parties involved – since both can benefit from it by working to propagate a greater cause, and work together to accomplish higher levels of productivity that perhaps would not have materialize if one labored alone. Just as a famous African proverb states: if you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together. Therefore, if you resonated with our newest endeavor in the technology field utilizing virtual reality, or would benefit from our nature-based Nonprofit, don’t be shy to reach out as it’s always a joy and privilege to serve and connect with people from different walks life, unique regions, diverse cultures and languages. I am always open to feedback and brainstorming through positive interactions.
