Meet Anthony Jones

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Anthony Jones a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Anthony, so great to have you on the platform. There’s so much we want to ask you, but let’s start with the topic of self-care. Do you do anything for self-care and if so, do you think it’s had a meaningful impact on your effectiveness?
For self-care I like to view it as three different parts of ourselves that we continually work on to be our best selves.

The first part is physical self care: I like to lift at least three days of the week. After each lift I’ll end with a 20 min jog and finish with 20 min in the sauna.

The second part is mental self care: What really helps me reset and strengthens my mental health is Yoga. Yoga has changed my life drastically. At least 3 days of the week I do an hour vinyasa flow. Keeps the body strong and mobile which in turns provides peace and clarity in the mind.

Last but not least is spiritual self care: My go to for spiritual self care is grounding. I love to go for long beach walk with my feet in the water walking along the shore line. This helps ground me to the earth and be more in tune with self.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am a passionate professional living in Irvine, California. My love for fitness and music originated in Omaha, Nebraska where I was born and raised till I was 16. What I do is inspire others to live a healthy lifestyle with fitness content and produce music that I love.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The first skill is to be disciplined. When motivation is lost, discipline will be there to keep you moving towards your goals. Even when you don’t want to, that’s when it matters the most and sets you apart from the rest.

Second is to focus on what you can control. Life throws too many challenges to control everything. If you try it will cause stress and anxiety. Learn to let go and focus on what you can control,

Lastly is try not to take everything so personal. As an empath this is something that is difficult to practice. We tend to absorb others energy and feel it as if its our own. Learn to notice it, analyze it as not your own emotions and let any negativity bounce off you.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
The book that has helped me the most is the power of positive thinking by Norman Vincent Peal. This has helped me through most of my adult life challenges.

The best take away from that book is the phrase: “I believe that I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneths me.” that can train your subconscious brain to not think so negatively and reinforce it with a positive affirmation.
