We recently connected with Anthony Volz and have shared our conversation below.
Anthony, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?
It takes a great deal of commitment, to take negatively especially from those you love. It helps to remember that they want to see you succeed, but its important to follow your heart.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a freelance illustrator, I have always set my mind towards success, and have always stuck with my career aspirations especially though the toughest times. I work in the digital medium to create inspiring artworks. The bulk of my work is focused on stunning landscapes that push the boundaries of reality. Recently I have been stepping into the realm of portraiture, and figures.
I have successfully launched my website volzanthony.com and I am open for new commissions.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back I find that one the hardest parts was to work consistently towards your own art. To make art that you believe in, will lead to success.
2 additional skill that have helped me, have been, perseverance and gratitude. With these 2 you can work hard as well as have a kind heart towards yourself and others.
For anyone starting a career, or schooling in art, I reccomended you to make friends, and always have a kind thing to say about their work. Analyze what you like about the art you see, and emulate that through practice.
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
For my art, I found that branching out and finding new areas to work in to expand my skills has been a great opportunity for my art. My landscapes have been a staple, but I recently started working on portraits, which has helped me to learn and move forward.
