Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Anthony. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Anthony, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

I keep my creativity alive by engaging with music from multiple angles—composing, performing, and teaching all feed into each other. I write or improvise at the piano daily, and when motivation dips, I rely on structured challenges inspired by National Novel Writing Month to keep moving forward. That approach has helped me complete larger projects, like sets of piano and orchestral works.

My musical language is shaped by composers like Johann Sebastian Bach, Igor Stravinsky, Ludwig van Beethoven, John Adams, and Steve Reich—from counterpoint and rhythmic complexity to emotional intensity and hypnotic repetition. When I feel stuck, I shift focus rather than force it, trusting that consistency and curiosity together keep creativity thriving.”

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m a Los Angeles–based pianist and composer, focused on creating and performing music that’s expressive, cinematic, and emotionally direct. My work blends classical tradition with influences from film and contemporary styles, often shaping pieces that feel like soundtracks to imagined worlds.

What excites me most is the connection between playing and composing—how performance brings the music to life in real time, while composition builds the larger narrative behind it. I’m currently focused on sharing more of my work through recordings and live performance, and continuing to develop new projects that expand that creative voice.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, three things shaped my path the most: consistency, curiosity, and adaptability.

I remember early on accompanying a class where everything felt unpredictable—tempos shifting, directions changing mid-run, and no real time to prepare. It forced me to stay present, listen deeply, and respond in real time. That experience really sharpened my adaptability and changed how I approached both playing and composing.

Consistency has been the foundation—showing up every day, even when progress feels slow. And curiosity has pushed me to explore beyond one style, pulling from classical, film, and other influences to shape a voice that feels more personal.

For anyone early in their journey: build habits you can rely on, stay open to everything, and don’t wait until you feel “ready.” A lot of growth comes from being thrown into real situations and figuring it out as you go.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Yes—I’m always looking to collaborate. I’m especially interested in working with musical theatre singers, vocalists, instrumentalists, and other composers who are excited about creating something expressive and story-driven.

A lot of my work lives at the intersection of classical, cinematic, and contemporary styles, so I’m drawn to collaborators who are open, curious, and willing to explore different sounds and approaches. Whether it’s developing new material, performing, or recording, I’m most interested in projects where there’s a strong sense of collaboration and shared creative investment.

If you’re interested in working together, the best way to connect with me is through my social media or YouTube channel, where I share my work and ongoing projects.
