Meet Antonette Slobodian

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Antonette Slobodian . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Antonette below.

Hi Antonette , you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
The Heart. It’s where it all starts. Being generous comes from the heart.

Having come from a family and background with great values and with parents who always wanted to give even if they didn’t have anything to give, has shown me opportunities to be generous to others today! Seeing them care, nurture and basically be generous to people who they cross paths with created who I am and hopefully I will do the same for my children.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Life is definitely a journey and where I am now is still a place of “Growing and Glowing” to a better and brighter future, not just for me, but for my family and for the people who I encounter!

I lost my job, as did a lot of other people during the Pandemic! But sometimes good things come from the darkest times. I am a wife and a mother of two boys and at the time it made perfect sense to take the time off during that crazy year of virtual schooling and quarantining to be home with the boys!

It was so exciting to be a SAHM (Stay at Home Mom), which my teen thought meant Socially Active Home Mom! I was busier than ever! This is when I started to follow all the mom blogs that were featured in an article and a post by Seen Magazine! Then, Qualityofwifeandboys was created! I was already obsessed with Facebook and posting photos for our family in the Philippines and across the country. Why not start a blog on Instagram? It definitely is an obsession!

While at home I also started writing for Detroit Mom, which is an amaaaazing community with real moms and real stories! Then I published more articles for Metro Parent Magazine and just recently started to collab with them on Instagram!

During 2021 both my boys were going through big sacraments for our church, while I was a SAHM I made a decision to volunteer and become a catechist because our church needed help. I never taught children, other than my own, but kids love me! So, I gave it a shot and after two years of teaching, I believe I actually learned a lot more from them than what they learned from me.

The church has an awesome choir and music director, and he was looking for more people, so I volunteered my talent which I love to sing because of my father (aka the Filipino Elvis)! Practicing your talents and your passions is so important especially as you get older because you do not want to lose what you used to love so much!

With teaching the students about serving others, it was time for me to get back out into the workforce. The beginning of 2022 I began working for a children’s charity called A Kid Again that brought kids with life-threatening illnesses and their families on adventures throughout Michigan! It was such an awesome experience and I felt really connected with the mission! I met so many great people and made wonderful connections.

I was sick as a child, with a heart condition and to see all of the families enjoy each other during stressful times is so heart-warming! I now volunteer for this organization and many Metro Detroit organizations with my boys. I do this to show them how important it is to give back to the community and to share each Non-Profits mission to people who may want to help!

I am a family woman, I am focused on them as well as my career in freelancing as much as I can with local publications, small businesses and nonprofits to help them with social media, articles and blogs.

I found my passion with creating reels on Instagram whether it’s for my personal mom blog or clients, I help them gain customers/clients/readers of their own so they can be profitable. I share this on their own Instagram account, or I collaborate with them on my account.

My educational background is in Journalism with a minor in fashion and my work experience has always been serving customers through great customer service! Delivering great work through hard work and passion will pay off!

I help businesses elevate their REEL GAME by incorporating my own creativity on their accounts so they can gain more business to make THEM successful! I HELP nonprofits with their social media so they can find more donors and volunteers to HELP further their mission!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Wow!!! Great question! Like I mentioned before, I am still GROWING and GLOWING on this amazing Journey! But I would say being optimistic has always got me through tough times. I know you can’t always believe things will go your way but always being positive helps especially in the REAL WORLD when people will try to break you!

Before the pandemic, I worked in retail management for a long time, so I obtained great customer service skills to treat the customer/client with respect and find out exactly what their needs are. I always had a smile on my face, which was part of my uniform! Now I smile at everyone I meet! You never know if you can brighten someone’s day just by flashing your pearly whites.

Being open to anything and always being useful is something that I am practicing now. I transitioned tremendously these last three years and I am grateful for the support I have from my amazing husband because he always pushes me to be the best! So, trying something that you’re not comfortable with is okay, at least you can say “I tried it!”

The best advice I can give anyone is “keep on keeping on”! Find out what your passions and strengths are and stay focused. Keep your eyes on the prize at all times! And a big one is to make sure you exercise! It is so good for the body inside and out!

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Collaboration is huge in this game. When businesses or people collaborate, it makes all the difference in the world of Instagram. It’s like they say, “two heads are better than one”. Joining forces to make both entities stronger only makes both businesses better and seen! There are so many people out there I would love to collaborate with! If you are an entrepreneur who is just getting started, a new business, a small business who needs help with their REEL game or a nonprofit who wants to get their mission heard, I would love to meet you!
