We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Antonio Guadagni a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Antonio, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

I get my work ethic from my upbringing as the son of Italian immigrants. Being the first generation of my family here in the United States gave me a unique blend of the European and American ways of life. My parents felt an obligation to succeed because they were allowed to come to the greatest country where opportunities are abundant. They worked multiple jobs to maintain an income until the opportunity to be business owners presented itself. From that point, they owned several businesses, ranging from a dry-cleaning business to multi-million dollar restaurants. Each venture was family-run, meaning my parents’ four sons were all involved in the family business. While other children enjoyed their summer or holiday breaks from school, we were working at our family businesses.

Don’t get me wrong, it was not a slave employment situation. We had fun times, but our mantra was to give 100% effort 100% of the time because failure meant failure for the family. This instilled a strong work ethic in me from a young age. When I decided to strike out on my own, I carried that work ethic with me. Often, my employers would tell me that my work ethic was too much. My willingness to come in early, stay late, and give my all to ensure projects were completed ahead of schedule was a real shock to the corporate environment. It also met with some resistance from co-workers, as my work ethic set a higher bar, requiring them to step up their efforts.

Most employees are trained to do a job but are rarely given the “why” of the job. The why is the true building block and allows employees to buy into the vision of companies. Understanding the why fosters a deeper connection and commitment to the work, ensuring that everyone is aligned with the company’s goals and values.

I am proud of my background and the lessons I learned from it. As a founder and COO of Alexios Security Solutions, I will continue to apply my work ethic to drive ongoing growth and ensure that each team member has the same opportunity to learn the “why” of security. By emphasizing the why behind our work, I aim to build a cohesive and motivated team that is dedicated to our collective success and their continued growth.

As the Chief Operating Officer and co-owner of Alexios Security Solutions LLC, my primary responsibility is to oversee the daily operations and strategic direction of our company. We specialize in providing top-tier security services to a diverse range of clients, ensuring their safety and peace of mind. My role encompasses everything from coordinating with clients to develop customized security plans to managing our team of dedicated security professionals. I am deeply involved in every aspect of our business, ensuring that we deliver the highest level of service and maintain our reputation for excellence.

At Alexios Security Solutions, we offer a comprehensive suite of security services tailored to meet the unique needs of our clients. Our services include:

What I find most exciting and special about my work at Alexios Security Solutions is the impact we have on our clients’ lives and businesses. The mission of this partnership is to create a safe and secure traditional summer camp experience for children living with autism. Our passion and purpose are to develop a sense of belonging for these children and young adults by providing them with opportunities for joy, friendship, and personal growth. There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Throughout my journey, several key qualities and skills have significantly contributed to my personal and professional success. These attributes have not only shaped my approach to leadership and business but have also been instrumental in driving the growth and excellence of Alexios Security Solutions LLC. Here are the three most impactful qualities and skills that define my professional ethos.

*Unwavering Work Ethic: Growing up as the son of Italian immigrants, I learned the value of hard work and dedication. This relentless commitment to giving 100% effort, 100% of the time, has driven me to excel in every role and inspire those around me.

Always aim to exceed expectations and strive for excellence in everything you do. Show up every day with the same level of commitment and dedication, as consistency builds trust and reliability. Embrace challenges as opportunities to grow, becoming more resilient and capable with each obstacle you overcome.

*Leadership and Mentorship: I am passionate about leading and mentoring others. I focus on helping team members grow professionally and personally. Effective leadership is about inspiring and empowering others to reach their full potential.

Start by taking initiative and leading by example, even without a formal title. Be a great listener and open to feedback, understanding the needs and aspirations of those around you. Invest in others by sharing your knowledge and experiences, helping them succeed while enhancing your leadership skills.

*Remaining Humble: Having a humble attitude means recognizing that there is always more to learn and being open to new ideas and perspectives. Appreciate the contributions of others and give credit where it’s due, fostering a collaborative and respectful environment.

Stay grounded regardless of your successes. Celebrate your achievements, but don’t let them define you. Continuously strive for improvement and keep in mind that humility is key to sustaining long-term success and meaningful relationships.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

Many books have impacted my life, such as “The Art of War” by Sun Tzu and “The Book of Five Rings” by Miyamoto Musashi, and “The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership” by John C. Maxwell. However, the book that has influenced my mindset more than any other is “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill.

“Think and Grow Rich” offers timeless principles for success that resonate deeply with me. One of the key points Hill emphasizes is the power of a burning desire. He argues that having a strong, unwavering desire is the starting point for all achievement, as it fuels our motivation and drives us to overcome obstacles.

Another significant concept from the book is the importance of a positive mental attitude. Hill explains that our thoughts shape our reality, and maintaining a positive outlook can attract success and opportunities. This idea of cultivating a success-oriented mindset has profoundly affected how I approach challenges and goals.

Hill also highlights the power of the mastermind group, which involves surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals who can offer support, ideas, and accountability. This principle underscores the value of collaboration and the collective power of teamwork in achieving great things.

“Think and Grow Rich” has not only provided me with practical strategies but has also inspired me to believe in the limitless potential of my own mind. It is a book that continues to shape my journey and serves as a constant reminder of the principles that lead to success.
