We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Antonio Mere a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Antonio , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
My confidence and self-esteem, came from years for me being treated differently in high-school. I was always the odd one out. I wasn’t popular but I also wasn’t unpopular. It was one of those things where I felt like I had to prove my value to people, because I was bullied. That turned into people only liking me because I was good at music. Which opened up a lot of other self-worth issues. However, post high school I had a fire and love for myself unlike I’ve ever felt before, and went all in to who I said I was!
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Antonio Mere crafts the soundtrack to a life that couldn’t exist then, but does now.
Drawing from the golden eras of the 50s, 60s, and 70s, this singer-songwriter and producer creates music that bridges decades with cinematic elegance and modern authenticity. His sound flows effortlessly between soulful R&B ballads, groove-heavy pop anthems, and jazz-kissed intimate moments—all unified by a vintage aesthetic that transports listeners to smoky jazz lounges, sunset house parties, and late-night radio dedications.
With warm, analog-inspired production and storytelling that honors both classic sophistication and contemporary truth, Antonio Mere doesn’t just make music—he curates emotional experiences. Each song exists in its own carefully crafted era, where mid-century modern elegance meets the fearless creativity of today.
Currently building from his catalog of 22+ releases, Antonio writes, produces, and performs music that feels both timeless and urgently present. His vintage-inspired visuals and cinematic approach to artistry create a complete world where every song becomes a journey through time.
Step into the golden hour. The music is waiting.
As fans are reading this, my new single “Phase” is currently out!
This song is written about a close friend, possibly wanting more out of our relationship, yet is with a committed partner. In the song, I talk about my confusion with where I stand in our relationship.
I think the song will cause my fans to think, and encourage them to have integrity even in times of temptation.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Songwriting, Choir, & self-taught Music Production. I’ve been singing and writing since I was about 12 years old, and I was always in music school. From singing in choir at Miller’s South performing arts middle school, and Akron School for the Arts High School. Participating in theatre and choir, has single-handedly made me the singer and performer I am today. Things took a twist when Covid hit in 2020, I had nothing to do so I thought it was wise to learn a new skill, which ended up being the best decision of my life. I’ve purchased my first digital audio workstation FL studio. And within six months, had a single produced and recorded that I made from scratch. Before hand, I was only a vocal producer using GarageBand for the iPhone. Now I am a college graduate of Tommy Lipuma Center for Creative Arts, in Recording Arts & Technology!
The advice I would give is to take a leap of faith in yourself, had I not did that in 2020, I wouldn’t have been the Musician and Music Producer/Engineer I am today.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
Of course, my family has been a huge support system, but overall it’s been God, I am a huge person of faith in Jesus, and my journey with him has been nothing but amazing. I know that I can rely on him to do anything and work any miracle in my life.
