Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Antwon Brinson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Antwon with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
As a child, I had the privilege of witnessing my mother’s incredible dedication to foster care despite the constant pain caused by a herniated disc in her back. I can vividly recall those moments when I would observe her struggling with a hunched posture and difficulty in movement due to a car accident-related injury she had endured years ago. However, something remarkable would happen when she received a late-night call from child services regarding an abandoned child or an infant in need of immediate shelter – she would undergo a seemingly miraculous transformation. Suddenly, her back would straighten, and she would walk as if the injury had never occurred. Her sole focus was ensuring these children had a safe place to stay. Despite the intense pain she endured, she would become an unstoppable force, possessing unmatched stamina and an astonishing work ethic whenever duty called. Witnessing my mother’s unwavering dedication has greatly influenced my own work ethic to this day.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back on my journey, I can’t help but acknowledge the numerous experiences, locations, and individuals who have played a significant role in shaping my choices thus far. The three qualities that have truly shaped me are:
1 Integrity
2 Agility
3 Active listening
Throughout my life, I’ve had Attention Deficit Disorder (A.D.D.), which has presented challenges in my learning process. As a child, the silence of a classroom often distracted me, and I found that background noise helped me to better concentrate. However, it wasn’t until I discovered my love for cooking that I realized A.D.D. could be seen as a superpower rather than a barrier. In the kitchen, I embraced my ability to focus on multiple tasks simultaneously. The dynamic nature of cooking demands quick thinking, adaptability, and maintaining quality and integrity. It was in the kitchen that I truly utilized my superpower, understanding that our perceived weaknesses can actually be assets that propel us to greater heights.
Living with A.D.D. requires a constant state of agility, encouraging oneself to persevere and remain focused on the immediate goals. If I were to offer any advice, it would be to embrace your true self without fear. Whatever unique quality or ability you possess, wholeheartedly embrace it. Believe me, you never know when that very thing could be the catalyst that transforms you from being good to becoming truly remarkable.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
An old African Proverb says, ” If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.” When I think about what success looks like for me today, it’s less about what I have and more about who I have around me. Surrounding yourself with individuals who inspire, challenge, and support you is key. It’s crucial to be among those who are more knowledgeable than you and, most importantly, have your best interests at heart.
