We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Aprajita Lal. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Aprajita below.
Hi Aprajita, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
My generosity comes from a deep belief in the power of giving and creating connections through art. I’ve always felt that art isn’t just about self-expression—it’s also about touching lives and making a difference. Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of donating my artworks to support various causes, which has been incredibly fulfilling. Growing up, I saw my family value compassion and giving back to the community, and that has stayed with me. I believe when you give selflessly, whether through your time, resources, or creativity, it creates a ripple effect of positivity and change. To me, generosity is also a way to show gratitude for the blessings I’ve received in life and to contribute to something bigger than myself.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
What excites me most about being an artist is the ability to share nature’s beauty and healing powers through my creations. Each painting is an opportunity to explore the moods and emotions of nature, from serene waterscapes to stormy skies and mystical forests. I aim to create artwork that sparks joy and inspires people to pause and appreciate the natural world.
Giving back to the community has also been an integral part of my journey. Over the past three years, I have donated several of my artworks to various charitable causes, including fundraising initiatives for education, healthcare, and environmental conservation. It’s incredibly fulfilling to know that my art can bring not only happiness but also meaningful change.
This year is shaping up to be incredible, with several exciting developments in my artistic journey. I recently concluded an online auction with Parkwest Gallery and have multiple art auctions lined up at private VIP collector events. These opportunities allow me to showcase my work to an audience that values unique and meaningful art.
Additionally, I will be participating in renowned events like the Affordable Art Fair and ArtExpo NYC and am likely to exhibit at Art Basel Miami, one of the most prestigious art fairs globally. Later this year, I’ll also be part of a few group exhibitions and have three solo shows scheduled, where I plan to unveil new collections inspired by the diverse moods of nature.
Beyond exhibitions, I strive to expand my online presence to connect with a global audience. For anyone who loves art that reflects nature’s beauty and serenity, I invite you to explore my portfolio and follow along as I continue this journey of creating and sharing art that brings happiness and makes a difference.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back on my journey, three key qualities have shaped my path as a professional artist: perseverance, adaptability, and authenticity.
1. Perseverance
Transitioning from a corporate career to becoming a full-time artist was a challenging yet rewarding decision. There were moments of doubt, rejection, and uncertainty, but perseverance kept me focused on my goals. Staying consistent in my efforts—whether through honing my craft, building relationships within the art community, or showcasing my work through exhibitions and online platforms—has been crucial to my growth. For emerging artists, my advice is to stay resilient. The art world is competitive, but persistence, coupled with passion, is what opens doors to opportunities like gallery representation, exhibitions, and international exposure.
2. Adaptability
The ability to adapt has been a game-changer in my journey. Whether it’s experimenting with new mediums, leveraging social media for brand visibility, or embracing online art auctions through platforms like Parkwest Gallery, adaptability has allowed me to stay relevant in a constantly evolving art landscape. My work spans various styles, including waterscapes, landscapes, and abstract paintings, and this versatility has helped me appeal to collectors worldwide. For aspiring artists, I encourage you to explore diverse mediums, invest in learning digital marketing, and be open to change—it’s key to thriving in today’s art market.
3. Authenticity
Staying true to my artistic vision has been one of the most impactful factors in building my brand. My art reflects my deep love for nature, showcasing serene waterscapes, stormy skies, and vibrant florals, all with the aim of bringing happiness and tranquility to viewers. For new artists, my advice is to focus on your unique voice and style. Authenticity is what makes your work stand out in a crowded market and helps build a loyal collector base. Let your art tell your story and connect emotionally with your audience.
For those early in their artistic journey, focus on developing these qualities. Persevere through challenges, embrace adaptability to grow your skillset, and always create from an authentic place. Surround yourself with a supportive art community—join local art clubs, participate in exhibitions, and network with fellow artists and collectors. In today’s digital age, building a strong online presence through social media and an optimized artist website is essential for connecting with global audiences and increasing sales.
By combining persistence, versatility, and authenticity, you can create a meaningful and fulfilling art career. Remember, every step forward—whether big or small—brings you closer to your dreams.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was instilling a deep sense of appreciation for nature and the blessings we have in life. From a young age, they encouraged me to explore the world around me, to see beauty in even the simplest things, and to be grateful for what nature offers. They taught me that gratitude is more than just a feeling; it’s a way of living that should reflect in everything we do. This foundational perspective has been a guiding force in both my personal and artistic journey.
Alongside this, my parents emphasized the importance of sharing knowledge and supporting others. They believed that the only way knowledge truly grows is when it’s shared, and this idea has had a profound impact on my work. As an artist, I try to create art that inspires, connects, and gives back to the community. Over the past few years, I’ve donated several pieces of my work to various charitable causes, aiming to use my art to make a positive impact.
They also taught me to build my own identity, stay committed to my dreams, and embrace perseverance. This lesson was particularly valuable when I made the transition from a corporate career to becoming a full-time artist. Even during times of doubt or uncertainty, their encouragement to commit to my path and remain true to my artistic vision has been a powerful motivator.
In essence, my parents gave me more than just practical advice—they instilled values of gratitude, authenticity, commitment, and the importance of supporting others. These principles continue to shape the way I approach my art, my life, and my ongoing journey as an artist.
