Meet April Mcquaig

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful April Mcquaig a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi April, thanks for sitting with us today to chat about topics that are relevant to so many. One of those topics is communication skills, because we live in an age where our ability to communicate effectively can be like a superpower. Can you share how you developed your ability to communicate well?

I have been in the accounting business for over 25 years. During that time I have really gained some invaluable experience over the years. Having that hands-on mentorship and learning directly from seasoned professionals has been a huge advantage. They were able to teach me the proper way to speak to vendors, clients, and fellow employees in a way that allowed us all to prosper in our positions.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Whether you are a start-up business or a growing business, Fruitful Accounting LLC has the expertise to help you. Through prompt and timely service, along with an intimate knowledge of the rules and regulations, we can keep you ahead of government deadlines, maintain order in your internal financial systems, and reduce the headaches that come with owning a business. Bookkeeping is more than simply coding transactions to a general ledger. Understanding the fundamental tax laws that govern why an expense is deductible is where the complexity comes in. Good bookkeeping ensures the financial reports you see month after month don’t need major adjustments at tax time resulting in nasty and costly surprises.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Organization, scheduling, and the ability to conform to changes have been the reason that my business has started to grow and thrive. When starting any business or growing a business it helps to know and have a plan for what is happening and what could happen. Being able to flow with changes and accept scheduling to change is how your business can continue to grow.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?

I am currently in a growing period and I am trying to make sure that I can grow at a pace that does not exceed my abilities.
