Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to APRIL TURGEON. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi APRIL , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from my Eastern European roots! I think it’s in our blood, ha ha. I grew up watching the women in my family working in the kitchen, the garden and their businesses so I find good old fashion hard work to be so fulfilling!
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
A few years ago, I never imagined I’d be doing what I’m doing now. I didn’t grow up around financial literacy. I didn’t grow up around money conversations or have anyone teaching me how to build wealth—I just knew what it felt like always to be trying to keep up. You know? Living paycheck to paycheck, feeling like there’s never quite enough, and not even knowing where to start.
Now, I get to help people who feel exactly like that. I help them take back control, whether it’s figuring out how to get out of debt, protect their income, save smarter, or even build an extra stream of income. But what makes this work so meaningful is that I’ve been that person. And I know how hard it is to ask for help or admit you don’t know what to do with your money. That’s why I lead with realness. No judgment, just options.
What I do isn’t just about finance, instead, it’s about freedom. I work with people who are tired of just getting by. People who are ambitious, who want more, and maybe just need someone to believe in them before they fully believe in themselves. I’m building a team of go-getters who are learning how to turn their own stories and struggles into purpose-driven careers.
Right now, I’m focused on growing. Expanding our reach, creating more content that actually teaches people something useful, and showing folks that you don’t have to come from money to learn how to build it.
If there’s one thing I want people to know about me and my brand… it’s that I’m not here to impress you. I’m here to help you. Whether you’re trying to get your finances together, or you’re looking for a way to start something of your own, I want you to know you’ve got options. And you don’t have to figure it out alone.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three biggest things that helped me grow were:
1) Being coachable,
2) Learning how to actually connect with people, and
3) Working on my mindset.
Being coachable meant dropping the ego and being willing to learn from people who had what I wanted. I didn’t have it all figured out, I just stayed open and willing.
Communication changed everything. It’s less about talking and more about listening, building trust, and being real. People can feel when you care.
And mindset…. oh, what a game changer. I had to build confidence from the ground up and learn how to show up even when I felt scared or unsure. The inner work is just as important as the business strategy!
If you’re just getting started… stay open, focus on people, and work on yourself as much as your business. That’s the real secret.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
Dare to Lead by Brené Brown really helped me personally and professionally. It taught me that vulnerability is a strength, not a weakness, especially when it comes to leadership. I used to think I had to have it all together, but people connect more when they know you’re a human being with flaws, struggles and insecurities just like them.
One line that stuck with me is “clear is kind.” Avoiding tough conversations doesn’t help anyone, it creates confusion. I’ve learned to lead with honesty and heart, even when it’s uncomfortable.
Lastly, her work on shame and self-worth hit home. You can’t lead others well if you’re constantly questioning your own worth. The concepts in her book pushed me to do the inner work so I can show up more grounded, more authentic, and more present.
