Meet Apxllo Thagod

We recently connected with Apxllo Thagod and have shared our conversation below.

Apxllo, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

Growing up my dad worked 2 jobs from time to time, never complained. So I saw that and knew I could work as hard with this type of role model. My parents paid for me to go to music school as an extracurricular after my regular school hours, taking their time to further my music dream. I went to that school from 9 to 18 and it was a big part of everything I do musically. It gave me the classical sense and melodic sense to know good music from bad

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Right now I’m focused on furthering my music career that’s my only goal. I’ve got to work harder I know, so that’s what I’m currently working on; new visuals, sounds, connections. I’ve traveled to a couple states across the country performing as well as performed in an arena, so this year we want to up the ante

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I listened to all different genres than rap before the 12th grade, that really molded me in the art of making a real record and not just non-cohesive sentences in a catchy way over a beat. For the most part the things I speak about will make sense and tell a story; I think the best music is that made from emotion. You have to put your life into your music if you want it to be felt on an authentic level

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

I’m bad with the whole content thing, music has changed so much over the years, it isn’t necessarily about how good is your music, how polished is your sound. It matters about how many followers you have and you’re engagement, you can get a record deal nowadays without even knowing how to sing or rap, as long as you have a respectable base of existing fans. So I just have to get up to speed with the times, that’s my current hurdle to get over
