We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Aramis Gentry a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Aramis , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
From being born two months early to almost passing away along with my mother during the process. I believe that my purpose found me! I could have been born at a Janet Jackson concert, i was ready to be in this world lol. My mother sings and my father sings and plays the guitar. I was always around music, and that’s why I say my purpose found me!
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am music producer. I go by the name Red On The Beat! I have been super blessed to work with artists such as Machine Gun Kelly, 36Mafia, Young Dolph, E40, 8Ball-MJG & more. I have been a member of the grammy recording academy for over five years. I have been producing for over sixteen years.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The qualities that best help me. We’re learning how to speak for myself, staying positive and being patient. The best advice I have is to tell the younger producers to be different and stay different. It is very easy to mimic or recreate the sound that you hear everyday. Be you! Never change!
Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
A big challenge I faced in this music industry is running into people that don’t know the business completely. I offer administration work to collect royalties and register music for artists and producers. There is a big disconnect between artists, collecting money for their music and just simple knowledge on registration.
