Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ariana Torres. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ariana, so glad you were able to set aside some time for us today. We’ve always admired not just your journey and success, but also the seemingly high levels of self-discipline that you seem to have mastered and so maybe we can start by chatting about how you developed it or where it comes from?
Well, I don’t believe discipline originates from an experience, a family member, or someone who held a significant place in your life.
I firmly believe that discipline comes from within oneself because it’s one of the highest forms of self-love. It shows that you care enough to prioritize what’s right for you, even when it may be challenging.
In my opinion, one of the most significant challenges in society is that we often perceive discipline as restriction or even punishment. However, the truth is that the more discipline you have, the greater your freedom becomes.
You certainly don’t want to be a prisoner of your own choices or habits. Shape the person you want to become, change your mindset, challenge yourself every day, set your goals, set your boundaries and believe me, little by little, you’ll start becoming the person you want to be on the path you want to follow, surrounded by people on the same level of growth as you are.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am the owner of Elegant Event Decor, We are a small Event Planning and decor business, that have been in business for 3 years.
We are passionate about assisting our clients in finding the perfect event elements that align with their vision and enhance their experience. Our goal is to simplify the process and help them bring their ideas to life, creating a truly unique event.
But… How is this related with discipline…Well,
Being a business owner is more than what meets the eye. Is it the gold dream? In fact, it can be, if you show up every day. However, that doesn’t mean you won’t have thoughts and questions about whether you’re doing the right thing, if you should give up, if you’re good enough for your clients, if you’re being productive, if you should do more, and so on.
Every day is a new challenge, but you don’t have to pack yourself with “To do” lists to be productive. You don’t have to have a thousand clients every day to have a good sale. You don’t have to work 16 hours a day to get the work done.
You just need to be consistent, make a 1% improvement every time, keep showing up, be patient, and keep working towards your goals. Even when it seems like you’re not going much further, 1% by 1% every day will make the 100% one day. And please do me a favor and never forget to be kind and give some credit to yourself for how hard you are working towards your goals.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three things that I consider more important are resilience, confidence, flexibility.
Building a business is never an easy task. In my personal experience, there were many instances where things didn’t turn out as expected. At some point, I didn’t know how to solve them. Some of them I could fix, but some I couldn’t. Those “bad” experiences taught me valuable lessons and tested my resilience, making me stronger.
There’s no such thing as being “ready” or having enough “knowledge” to start. Believe me, even when you begin, you’ll never be completely ready. You’ll never have all the answers. A million questions will arise, and you’ll have to answer them as you go. Start with confidence, even when you’re afraid. Take one step at a time and learn to be flexible with your time, mistakes, and the people around you.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
The people I surround with…
Outside of Elegant Event Decor, I am a bodybuilder. As you can imagine, my day revolves around these two activities, which significantly impact my social life (in a good way).
I firmly believe that the people we surround ourselves will shape our lives. Lately, I’ve noticed a significant shift in my social circle since I embarked on my bodybuilding journey. I’ve formed strong friendships with incredible people, and I can’t express my gratitude enough for each one of them.
This year has been quite a rollercoaster ride. I was on the brink of giving up and shutting down my business. However, having meaningful conversations with this group of people at the gym completely transformed my perspective and mindset.
Surround yourself with people who are better than you, who genuinely want your success, who love you, who cheer you on, and who support you. These are the key ingredients to achieving your goals.
