Arianna, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

My everyday life has been shaped by experiencing repeated losses and witnessing the regrets of my loved ones. Those experiences inspired me to make a promise—to create a better life for myself and for them, one that fulfills the dreams we once only imagined

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a makeup artist from Baltimore, MD, and what makes this work so special to me goes far beyond the brushes and palettes. Some of the most unforgettable moments are when a client who rarely wears makeup looks in the mirror and sees themselves in a new light. The smile, the surprise, sometimes even the tears—those reactions remind me why I chose this path. Over time, my chair has become more than just a place for makeup; it has become a safe space where real conversations happen, where bonds are built, and where people feel seen and celebrated.

This year, my vision is to take that same energy beyond my studio. I want to host a class or create a special drive for young girls, giving them not only the tools to explore makeup but also the confidence to embrace who they are. For me, it’s not just about teaching beauty techniques—it’s about inspiring the next generation to dream bigger, carry themselves with confidence, and know they are worthy of taking up space in any room.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The biggest skills I’ve gained on this journey are confidence, persistence, and the understanding that quality always outweighs quantity. To anyone beginning their path in makeup, remember this: there will be days when it feels slow, when learning a skill or building a client base seems out of reach. But growth takes time—and every step forward counts. Don’t give up, because your consistency will turn into results.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?

The greatest challenge I am currently facing is comparison. Within the beauty industry, social media can make it very easy to measure myself against other professional makeup artists. To address this, I am working on redefining how I use those platforms—viewing them less as a space for comparison and more as a portfolio to showcase my own growth, skills, and artistry. This shift allows me to stay focused on my personal progress while remaining inspired by the work of others.
