Meet Ariel Shaw, MBA

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ariel Shaw, MBA a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Ariel with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I truly believe my work ethic comes from my family. I am the daughter of 2 U.S. Veterans who both served over 20 years in the military. I am the granddaughter of 2 Veterans, a 30 year-term former elected official, and one of the most amazing grandmothers who raised her 10 children plus grands. I know to only operate in excellence and to complete what I start, while making impact.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am the Founder of multiple businesses. What occupies a large amount of my time currently is Southern Crescent Women In Business, a women’s chamber for those located in South Atlanta Region and portions of North Metro Atlanta. I also run a logistical management firm. We run programs, monthly networking opportunities, trainings and more for our Women’s Chamber. We have expanded its value by creating a media platform that includes a streaming show on Amazon, Youtube, a magazine that is available digitally and in print in Barnes and Noble, as well as a Podcast that was ranked Top 25 Globally Shared on Spotify, Women, Wealth and Entrepreneurship.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Qualities and skills that were most impactful in my journey would have to be my persistence, focus and resilience. I never take the word ‘No.’ I truly belive in find a way or create a way. I am also extremely resilient, a skill that I would like to see more of our young people develop. Life will certainly present its challenges, the key is to be able to roll with the punches and to rise above the mess, tunnelling out anything or anyone that is only there to distract you. I also believe the fact that I know who I am, is an added benefit. There are so many people living inauthentic lives because they have not taken the time to truly understand their purpose and to move beyond fear to achieve that purpose.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
I am an avid reader, which is why I just started a book club within my organization. One should always be willing to be a student as well as a teacher. I have read many books from those who are spiritually and business sound. I am also an author and have published 2 books, one about Business Credit and one for women in business.
