We were lucky to catch up with Ariel Young recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ariel, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Finding a sense of purpose has helped me deal with life’s challenges and find meaning when I’m facing a challening situation. So I’m not typically discouraged by problems instead I choose to stay focused on my purpose in life, which is to make a positive impact on my community. This is how I stay motivated and ready to face the future with confidence!
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
It’s been a wild ride since graduating from Spelman College and becoming a School Psychologist. Taking my love for cute stationery and turning it into a business was a huge step for me and I’m thankful for the journey so far! Copper and Brass Paper Goods has grown into something bigger than I’d planned and the biggest lesson I’ve learned is to be real. It’s been hard to stay true to myself and my vision, but with the support of friends and family, I’m grateful for the opportunity to make big business decisions and truly uplift my community
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Communication is key! Every successful small business owner knows that the ability to communicate a compelling vision, adapt to change, and build strong relationships are all essential qualities to have. Without these traits, your business can’t reach its full potential.
Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
Inflation and the economic downturn have presented us with a challenging obstacle, one that has heavily impacted our operations. Consumer spending habits are changing and our costs are rising, leaving us to navigate these uncertain times. We are doing our best to stay afloat and remain positive, and hope for better days ahead.
