Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Arjon Bashiri. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Arjon, so great to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. So, let’s jump into something that stops so many people from going after their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. We’d love to hear about how you dealt with that and persisted on your path.
In a world full of “Don’t do this, do that” it can be overwhelming for a creative to want to keep pursuing their passion. I’ve been told many times on how my creative path won’t help me succeed, but despite the negative comments to important to stay true to your dream, your vision, and your goals because at the end of the day the only person who can stop you from succeeding is yourself.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas I grew up loving the arts and to be honest it’s the only thing I see myself doing. The most exciting thing about what I do is being able to say I do it. There have been many people I know that have changed their path because they were told to do so, but being an actor and musician has brought many joys to my life without other peoples definition of “success”. For example, I was able to push out merchandise for my music which was a goal of mine from when I started producing 2 years back so for me to achieve that goal was a huge success and right now I’m doing a challenge for myself to where I release a song every week for 20 weeks so stay tuned for that!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
A quality of mine is I don’t like to quit or stop a task until it’s finished I’m a very “I have to see it through” person so having that mindset has pushed me to finish something that I felt was dragging a bit such as a song I wasn’t really vibing with. A solid piece of advice i can pass along is to believe in yourself and know that you can do anything you put your mind to.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
TAKE A BREAK! It’s okay to work and pursue your passion, but always remember that we are human and our minds and body need a break especially if you’re feeling overwhelmed or burnt out. Light a candle, listen to some soothing music, or talk to a loved one that has always helped me when I’m feeling overwhelmed.
