We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Arkesha Crutcher Hampton and Volonda Reedus a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Arkesha and Volonda, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Finding Our Purpose as Naturopaths
Growing up, we watched our family members struggle with high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes. These conditions weren’t just statistics—we saw firsthand how they affected the quality of life, energy levels, and overall well-being of those we loved. It became clear that these health issues weren’t just about genetics but also about lifestyle choices, habits, and the environment in which our bodies functioned.
We didn’t want to follow that same path. Instead, we became deeply curious about the body’s ability to heal itself when given the right support. This curiosity led us to naturopathy, a practice that focuses on holistic healing, prevention, and creating an environment where the body can thrive.
Our journey wasn’t just about personal transformation; it became a mission to educate others. Too often, people accept chronic conditions as an inevitable part of aging or genetics, but we now know that with the right nutrition, movement, stress management, and mindset, we can take control of our health.
Through our work as naturopaths, we strive to empower our community with knowledge. We believe in teaching people how to nourish their bodies, restore balance, and prevent diseases naturally. Our goal is to inspire a shift from reactive healthcare—treating symptoms after they arise—to proactive wellness, where we create the best possible conditions for long-term vitality.
By sharing our experiences and expertise, we hope to show others that health isn’t about avoiding illness, it’s about thriving. And when we support our bodies the right way, healing becomes a natural process, not a distant dream. We believe that this is how God designed it.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three most important qualities or skills for someone early in their journey toward wellness and natural healing are knowledge of holistic health, critical thinking, and the ability to cultivate discipline and consistency. Here’s why they matter and how to develop them:
1. Knowledge of Holistic Health
Understanding how the body heals itself and how various natural approaches support health is essential. This includes nutrition, detoxification, herbal medicine, and energy healing.

• Study foundational books on naturopathy, herbalism, and holistic nutrition.
• Follow trusted practitioners and attend workshops or training sessions.

2. Critical Thinking & Discernment
