We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Artist Miriam Moran. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Artist Miriam below.

Artist Miriam, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
When I think about my resilience. I think about who has inspired me to be empowered to withstand and learn from my difficult experiences. My parents are definitely the pillar to that inspiration I get my resilience from. During the times I need most to be resilient, they’ve always motivated me to stay up when life can be heavy through things we can’t control and to have a push forward mindset that has helped me overcome in my journey.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am an self taught artist, muralist, art creator and mentor. I am a latina owned art business that has been painting for a purpose to grow my brand and mission since 2015. I have expanding my artistry which is based in Maryland to other states in the U.S so that I can connect more with art communities. I am working on bringing my art projects to life to places where art inspiration is needed most. I will be creating the first large scale Latinx mural on the Eastern Shore. The mural will be installed in spring 2024 and to continue to stay informed of my upcoming projects or like to hire or collaborate please follow my instagram and Facebook @artistmiriammoran.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
When I do look back and think on three things that were most impactful in my journey. I can share that it would be three important qualities that helps me thrive daily that goes beyond just talent and business. First one is my authenticity. I am always being myself instead of trying desperately to fit into social standards. It impacts on how I see things from a different view and embrace who I am with all my flaws and all. Second would be my artistic ability. Never going to school for the arts and be able to have a skill set that takes years to obtain with practice always amazes me as an self taught artist. From my creativity skills to the passion of my gift, I strive to continue to become better daily and to not focus on my limitations because in life we all have to grow through what we go through. Lastly having patience. Patience guides towards educated choices, paving the way for a happy and peaceful life. It might be difficult to master the ability of patience, but improving the artistic skill over time will really help the artist throughout life. Leonardo Da Vinci took at least 16 years to finish his masterpiece portrait of the Mona Lisa. So my advice to those whom aspire to be an artist, you have to be prepared to work on these characteristics and make them a part of your early journey.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Being in a location where public art seems to still be a stand still with local Artists of diverse backgrounds who want to have opportunities to create and be supported with funding and fair artist rights. It’s so many challenges conflicts and I want to be apart of the solution and learn more on what I can do to contribute to help the growth that is needed in a healthier art family community. I’m opened to collaborate and travel for art opportunities that would contribute to my business growth.
