We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Arya Patil a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Arya, thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re very focused on here – improving our ability to make decisions. Everyday, we’re faced with decisions that can impact the future of our careers, businesses, relationships and more and so one of the most impactful areas for personal development, in our view, is decision-making. Can you talk to us about how you developed or improved your decision-making skills?
Hi, I’m Arya Patil, based in Atlanta, USA. Three years ago, I moved here from Mumbai, India to pursue my Master’s degree and today, I work as a Demand-Based Marketer at a tech company.
Looking back, my decision-making skills were shaped long before my career began. Growing up, my parents always encouraged me to think independently, trust my instincts, and stand by my choices. They never handed me the answers instead, they gave me the freedom to make my own decisions and learn from them. That trust built the foundation of confidence, accountability, and resilience that I carry with me today.
When I decided to move across the world to study Luxury Brand Management at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), it was one of the biggest decisions of my life, leaving a comfort zone in India for something completely new. It taught me the value of courage and calculated risk-taking, that growth rarely happens in comfort, and clarity often comes from taking the first step forward even when the path feels uncertain.
At SCAD, I learned how strong decisions come from blending creativity with data-driven thinking. Courses like Forecasting and Business Trends, Supply Chain Analysis, Business Development and Geographical Expansion, Marketing Strategies for Brands, and Financial Reporting and Analysis helped me understand that great ideas thrive when backed by insight and structure. Working with inspiring professors and interning with leading firms reinforced this belief that every meaningful decision stems from a balance of logic, empathy, and purpose.
Today, whether I’m designing marketing strategies or navigating life, I approach every decision with one guiding mindset:
✨ Listen to your heart, back it with faith, and have the courage to stand by it.
Because at the end of the day, every decision big or small shapes who you become. And sometimes, the most life-changing ones start with a quiet “yes” to yourself. 💫

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
After completing my Master’s in Luxury Brand Management from the Savannah College of Art and Design, I began my professional journey as an ABM and Research Coordinator at Palladin Technologies, a Salesforce partner.
In my role, I combine creativity with analytics to bridge the gap between data and human connection. I analyze market trends, translate customer insights into actionable strategies, and design personalized journeys that enhance engagement across the customer lifecycle.
One of the most exciting aspects of my work is building AI-driven marketing workflows using platforms like Salesforce and 6sense to identify high-performing accounts and deliver experiences tailored to each audience segment. These data-backed campaigns have not only boosted lead generation but also strengthened long-term customer relationships and revenue growth.
What truly excites me about this space is how AI and automation are reshaping marketing, turning data into meaningful stories that help businesses connect with people more intelligently and empathetically. I see marketing as both an art and a science, a way to blend creativity, technology, and purpose to create real impact.
As I look ahead, my focus is on continuing to explore how AI-powered personalization can redefine the customer experience making it more predictive, human-centered, and inclusive. I’m passionate about building AI driven personalized strategies based on predictive analysis that don’t just sell a brand but build trust, add value, and tell authentic stories.
Outside of work, I do pilates, travel, watch movies and enjoy creating lifestyle content that celebrates balance from my “corporate girlie” routines to travel diaries and creative storytelling. For me, every platform whether professional or personal is an opportunity to inspire, connect, and keep learning.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
We’re living in a time where AI is evolving faster than ever, and it’s easy to get caught up in trends or compare yourself on social media. But what truly sets you apart is your hunger to learn. Degrees open doors, but curiosity and consistency will keep you going. When you build strong foundations and keep asking “why”, you start making decisions that actually move you forward.
The second quality is adaptability. Change is constant especially in tech and marketing and success today depends on how well you can learn, unlearn, and relearn. I’ve had moments where things didn’t go as planned, but every challenge taught me something new about myself. The key is to stay flexible, trust your instincts, and remember that every detour has its purpose.
And finally, empathy the one thing technology can’t replace. As much as I love AI and data-driven marketing, I’ve learned that the best ideas come from understanding people. Listening, collaborating, and showing compassion make work more meaningful. Tech will change; tools will change but people never do.
For anyone just starting out: stay curious, stay kind, and believe in your own pace. Learn deeply, adapt fearlessly, and lead with empathy. Because in a world that’s constantly evolving, those three qualities will always keep you grounded and ahead. 💫

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
Lately, I’ve been reading “A Foundation for Your Life: Essentials of Nichiren’s Writings for Young Women.” One of my mentors introduced me to this book, and a single line from it completely changed how I see life and leadership:
“One person’s enlightenment opens the path for everyone else. When we become happy, we show others the way. By taking this on as our mission, we can make a difference in the world.”
This writing by Nichiren Daishonin, a Buddhist philosopher, resonated deeply with me. It reminded me that personal happiness isn’t selfish, it’s a form of contribution. When we work on becoming genuinely happy and fulfilled, we create ripples of positivity that inspire others to believe in their own potential.
I try to carry that philosophy into my daily life and career. Whether I’m collaborating with a team or leading a campaign, I remind myself that believing in someone’s potential is one of the most powerful things you can do. When you see the best in others, you help them see it in themselves and that’s where growth truly begins.
This book has taught me that success is not just about achieving goals; it’s about becoming a light for others while staying grounded in your own joy. And that’s a lesson I’m learning to live every day, one step, one choice, one conversation at a time.
