Meet Ash Meadows

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ash Meadows. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ash below.

Ash, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
This is a skill that is a work in progress for a lot of us, myself included. While working, having a home and family as well as hosting a podcast, it can be difficult to find time to get creative. The purpose of my podcast is to keep the magic alive, even during the mundane day to day tasks. I made small changes to create a ritual for myself. How I make my coffee in the morning, how I view household tasks, all fall under the lens of magic for me. I find that when I do these tasks, my creativity sparks and comes alive. More often than not, when an idea strikes, I stop what I am doing and run to my computer or scribble something on scrap paper. I have also found that when I set specific times for myself through the week to have “office hours,” I get a lot more work done than if I just work when I feel like it. I hold myself accountable to create time to get my creative juices flowing.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I started The Green Witch Podcast in 2022. At the time, I was working a corporate job that I did not feel aligned with. I wanted to do something that was meaningful to me and hope that it would inspire others. Not only was I working on my spiritual self but how I can also be a more sustainable person overall. I started living more sustainably and as an earth centered magical practitioner, I wanted to bridge the gap between witchcraft and helping the planet. Many pagans, witches, magical practitioners, shamans etc., are very earth focused, however, I noticed with the boom of social media, the message of being earth focused seems to have been lost. We see WItchTok, for example, and there are these beautifully, carefully curated alters and spells but that’s not all that witchcraft is. While it is nice to have beautiful things, it’s not the heart of magic. Magic is what the practitioner yields, not the stuff that they have to aid them. So I set out to make it a goal of mine to bring magic back to basics, in a way, and how to make ethical swaps for magical tools and items.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Never stop learning. We always tend to believe that there is an end goal. For some journeys, there are. For a magical practice, I do not believe that there is an end. It is just that, a practice. The more open minded you are to continue and evolve your practice, the easier it will come to you. Trust your intuition and don’t believe everything you read or hear, even from me. If what someone says about your interests or passions does not align with your core values, scrap it. It doesn’t hurt to hear all different information but if it doesn’t work for you, don’t do it. The biggest lesson of all that I have learned along my path is, don’t be quick to react to something. Take time to assess and listen to what is going on. Protect yourself first.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am always looking for all types of magical creators to connect with! I think it’s important to have a variety of information available to people as we all come from different backgrounds. I can be found on Instagram @thegreenwitchpodcast or folks can contact me via email at [email protected].
