Ashea, thrilled to have you on the platform as I think our readers can really benefit from your insights and experiences. In particular, we’d love to hear about how you think about burnout, avoiding or overcoming burnout, etc.
Overcoming the burnout is making sure to plan accordingly. I do a lot of prep work, planning and strategizing my orders so I won’t be overwhelmed. You have to say no to sometimes and you have to prioritize your health that’s what matters. You can’t please everyone. For example I know that the busiest time for me is the last few months of the year so I have to plan it out day by day so I know what to expect. After that busy season taking a long break is a must so you can rest and focus more

Hello my name is Ashea! I own a baking business . I love baking its a passion of mine. It’s definitely an art. Using the best quality ingredients from scratch is important for a successful delicious product. My cakes and desserts have the most premium ingredients down to the butter, chocolate and flour. All of that matters for sure. Instead of buying extract I’ve been making my own for years and sell it at all my markets. See me at a pop up near you all over San Diego county.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Attention to detail, Precision
Accuracy and quality ingredients. (Get a scale to weigh everything, something I didn’t have in the beginning)
Ingredients matter because that takes your desserts to the next level.
My advice is don’t give up. Something doesn’t do right, get up and try again. You can!!

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Collaborating would be a dream for Straight Up Cake. I would love to work with coffee shops, cafes, other restaurants to showcase my cake slices, pound cakes, bourbon vanilla extract.
