Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to ASHLEY Beck. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

ASHLEY, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

I can’t say I’ve fully conquered imposter syndrome—if I’m being real, I feel like it’s something that comes up on a day-to-day basis, especially in this age of social media where comparison is everywhere. But what’s changed is that I’ve found confidence in my brand. Now that I’m almost a year in, I know what my brand is. I know who I am as a business, and the people who vibe with that are naturally drawn to it.

Yes, I still experience imposter syndrome. But I fight it by reminding myself that people out there see me. They respect what I’m doing, they appreciate my work, and that kind of support is what’s helped me grow—sometimes in ways I didn’t even expect. I’m stepping outside my comfort zone, trying new things, and expanding my horizons. And every single time I do that, it helps me push back against that imposter feeling a little more.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m the owner of Cosmic Hippie Beauty Company—a brand rooted in cosmic beauty and good vibes. I offer services like nails and lash extensions, but it’s so much more than that. It’s a safe space where everyone is welcome. My goal is to create an environment where people can fully relax, feel seen, and just vibe while getting pampered.

Things have been growing fast lately—so much so that I recently had to close my books because I’ve been completely booked out! It’s wild, but exciting. My next big move is to expand the Cosmic Hippie Squad and bring on more team members so we can keep up with the growth and keep that same energy flowing. I have some big dreams for this brand, and watching it all unfold has been beyond exciting.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

The first quality that’s been huge for me is my background in customer service. I’ve been working in service since I was 17—starting as a waitress—and honestly, that experience has played such a big role in building my books in the beauty industry. When you work in service, you learn how to build relationships, how to sell yourself (or products), and how to work fast and efficiently. Those are all skills that transfer perfectly into running a beauty business.

The second thing that’s helped me grow quickly is empathy. I always try to remember that everyone in this country is a consumer, and meeting my clients with kindness and understanding has helped me form strong, loyal relationships. That said, you have to balance that with boundaries—because empathetic people can get taken advantage of if they’re not careful. So know your audience, protect your energy, but lead with heart.

The third quality that’s impacted my journey is a constant thirst for knowledge—and sharing that knowledge with others. I’ve gained so much respect just from being willing to educate my clients. I don’t care how much I know—what matters most is how much they learn from me during their appointment. The beauty industry has been undereducated for way too long, and I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it is when a client walks away not just looking good, but understanding how to take care of what we did together. That’s why becoming a teacher in my own space became such a huge priority.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Absolutely—I love collaborating with other small businesses! Since starting Cosmic Hippie Beauty, I’ve made it a point to support and work alongside other local entrepreneurs. I just have so much respect for people building their own thing and trying to make it work. Some of my favorite collabs so far have been with close friends who run their own businesses, and it’s always such a vibe when we get to come together and create something special.

Right now, I’m getting ready to celebrate my one-year anniversary, and I’m looking for a few vendors to be part of the event. I’m especially looking for small business or event owners who have a celestial, witchy, or cosmic vibe—anything that aligns with the energy and aesthetic of Cosmic Hippie. My clients love when I do these kinds of collabs, and it really brings the whole experience to life.
