We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ashley Bourbeau. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ashley below.
Hi Ashley , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Um, life lol. The more serious answer – martial arts. That was the first place I really learned the value of having to get up and do everything again and again, hundreds and thousands of times before you get it, integrate it, and perfect it.
But the beauty is that’s actually not the ceiling. There isn’t one! There are so many different styles, techniques, applications for everything in martial arts. Each fighter’s unique anatomy, physicality, expertise, fight IQ, training, adaptability and grit all make every fight a mystery and an art form. I try to devote the level of dedication and attention to detail necessary for that to anything that means something to me. Martial Arts inspires a strength and spirit unparalleled, in my opinion. It had a tremendous impact on my resilience, and also gave me peace and spirituality. 10/10 would recommend for anyone who needs to learn self confidence.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is Ashley. I’m a transformational life coach. I help people who are burnt out, searching for their purpose, or going through big life events, changes in values or spirituality figure it all out, and build a life that reflects their purpose, needs and values.
My clients are drawn to my sense of calm, my ability to establish trust, and my authenticity. I refuse to be someone I’m not, and I don’t want you to be either.
I think some things that set me apart from other coaches is that I’m good at blending the practical and the spiritual in a way that isn’t too much, and helps people understand the core of why we feel the need to live better lives. I am also very focused on our future as a species. We have some giant changes in tech coming our way with AI, and whatever the future holds for the study of UFO’s/UAP. These are technologies that will impact almost every aspect of our lives in ways we don’t fully understand. I’m putting the content out there because I know people need to be thinking about it, and no coaches seem to be talking about it. It’s more than just how we’re changing on an individual level. Collectively, we are changing at a pace that the individual can barely grasp. I’m here to help!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Self control and discipline. No, they are not easy for any of us. Practicing self control through routines and discipline, when focused on positive motivations and activities could be the one thing that pulls you out of some dark places (ask me, I know), and completely changes the trajectory or your life. It can start slow, making one or two small changes at a time. This is how I make changes myself! Nobody is above it. Not doing too much change at once is a better bet on you staying committed. We creatures do not like change, and we rebel and quit when we get overwhelmed with too much of it at once. For whatever goal, get comfortable with the new changes, then tweak it again, or add more layers. Building comfort with discomfort makes it easier to show up and make things happen.
Avoiding Reactivity. It’s really important to think before you act. Ask yourself why you want to say it, do it, etc. Does it take you closer or further away from your goals? Are you going to jeopardize something important to you? Are you sacrificing too much time away from the people you love? Does it resonate with who you are? Does it set a good example for your children? Would it mean something to the people you love? If it’s not a “F*CK YES” all things considered, then it should be a “no” for you dawg. Trust it.
Lastly, ask for help! There was a time in my life when I was afraid to. I had been burned by allowing manipulative people in my past to help me, only to use it against me later. But at some point, I got my ass to therapy, learned more about these dynamics, and began the process of cleaning up my life, and inserting the types of people that were truly there for me. Once you have healthy dynamics in your life, you can ask the people around you for help, because they are relationships built on trust, respect, and genuine love. Whatever stage of working on yourself you’re at, don’t be afraid to ask for help from a professional coach, therapist, and the real, good people in your life. We all have to be there for each other, and we can’t always do everything alone. So, reach out when you need it!
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal clients are going through one or more of the following:
They are reaching burnout on the way they’ve been living, and need to make some big transformations. This usually centers around the feeling deep down that they don’t know their purpose. It’s something a lot of us grapple with. I love helping people find their purpose, and helping them ask the most important questions. This can manifest itself in many ways, but often involves helping one create a life, and a career that aligns more with who they are and what they’d like to offer the world.
My ideal client could be going through big, life altering events, such as family or relationship issues, divorce, tragedy, loss of loved ones, etc. They need to figure out their next steps, clean up their life, and settle into this new version of themselves. We truly all go through it sometimes. Therapy is wonderful, and so is a coach to help you make decisions and execute the steps to sort yourself out. In these situations, I often help people simplify, prioritize and focus on their intended objectives with a renewed perspective.
My ideal client could also be going through a shift in values or spirituality. They need to find a way to integrate that into their life, and develop a strong set of principles to guide them. Many people who were raised to think one way, and realize later on that they do not align with it, or have left a religion, cult or lifestyle that has not served them, and in some cases, harmed them. My focus is usually on helping people identify their own sense of spirituality and principles to live by, or helping them build a life more reflective of their changed beliefs or values. Living life feeling guided in a way you resonate with, and more true to your passions and values is one of the best feelings in the world. You can start over.
