Meet Ashley Brissette

We were lucky to catch up with Ashley Brissette recently and have shared our conversation below.

Ashley, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?
Self-care is so important to me. In this job, you are constantly working. This isn’t a 9-5 where you can just shut it off. I have realized how important it is to have boundaries in this line of work, which translates to self-care as well. When you feel like you are always working, you get burnt out quick. When I take time for myself and practice different forms of self-care (going for a walk, having a spa-day, watching a favorite tv show, etc) I immediately feel less stressed and am able to then come back to my work feeling refreshed and even more motivated.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Being in real estate has been so rewarding and challenging at the same time. There is no greater feeling that helping someone find their dream home or assisting someone with their home sale. But there are also set backs in this business. You have to constantly be learning and adapting to this ever changing market. Recently, I have really focused on building my business and putting myself out there to show people my personality and what sets me apart from others in the same field of work. I bring a fresh perspective and will work tirelessly to make sure my clients are satisfied with my services. Moving forward, I am focused on connecting with others in the community, supporting local businesses, continuing my education to further assist my clients, and most of all – helping clients with all of their real estate needs!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
To be successful in this business, you have to have discipline. You are your own boss so you are responsible for your own accountability. I have always been very organized and this has helped with time blocking to be the most productive. Starting a business is A LOT of work. The most important qualities for someone who is just beginning the process as an entrepreneur is self-motivation, problem solving skills, and adaptability. You will have set backs and will have to overcome a lot of challenges, so having the correct mindset and bouncing back even better is how you will succeed.

How would you describe your ideal client?
I feel so fortunate to be able to assist others in one of the biggest decisions and purchases of their lives. Having a client who understands that selling/buying a home is a collaborative effort makes the process so much easier. We have to be on the same page to make it a successful transaction. Clients who are understanding, proactive, and communicative are the ideal characteristics that I look for!
