Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Ashley with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
My work ethic started as a young child stemming from being in Gymnastic growing up. Competition and tryouts gave me the drive to never be out worked, out skilled out trained or unable to emotionally control my feelings during competition.
That later drove my adult life into striving to becoming the best in any position that I encounter career wise. I have a mindset that no one will ever tell me that I lack anything. I will always study,, ask questions and strive to prefect my job duties.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a wife, mother of 2 boys and a proud Houstonian. My career background is social work that I have been doing for over 15yrs now. I chose this career of course for not the money as you know public servants aren’t rich. We do these positions to make sure humans are not abused or neglected. However, this can be very stressful as well to the point where you can’t sleep at night.
I wanted to have an outlet away from social work. That would make people feel good about themselves as well as creating a hobby to do something else for myself. This is when Bombshell Beauties Galore was birthed in 6/2022.
I started my journey with training in Dallas, Tx with an instructor who specialized in dark lip neutralization with lip blushing included. Majority of my family have the dark top lip or dark lip line around their lips that they hate and they all wanted to try this lip service to give them an even lip tone. I practice the dark lip neutralization/ blushing for 6 months before launching.
Lip Neutralization are for clients with hyperpigmentation and can take up to 2-6 sessions depending on your skin type and lifestyle. It could take more sessions it just depends on how well the pigment takes. Lip Blushing is a service that gives you the lipstick look. This can take 2–4 sessions. These services are a form of a tattoo and can last 3-5 yrs once completed.
I later went back to Dallas to learn how to do the Ombre’ Powder Brows. This is a form of a tattoo that is semi permanent that requires 2 sessions. I specialize in a soft natural look for the brows. You can wake up and just go. No more brown pencils are needed. This service last 18months to 3yrs.
I have recently added Henna Brows that is a temporary stain on the eyebrows that can last up to 2 weeks depending on your skin type and lifestyle. There is no needle used.
My clients have been happy and it brings me joy to see them smile in the mirror when the service is completed. Being a Permanent Makeup Artist does not feel like work. It’s a hobby that takes me away from day to day stressors. For that moment nothing matters but my client and it’s peaceful. I strive to become the best Permanent Make Artist that I can be and I won’t stop training and learning of different methods to perfect my craft.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back that I feel that was most impactful was my base training. My trainer was very patient and she made sure you understood the preliminary of the service. She always stated that the color theory, sanitation and mapping is the basis to your success.
Utilizing that information, continuing to practice and making it my own has been why my business has been a success.
For anyone who is just starting out in this business my advice is to be patient, continue to educate yourself on your skills and understand we are our hardest critics.
All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
The current obstacle is the economy. People are struggling to pay their bills and by food with the hike in prices globally. So getting your eyebrows and lips serviced is not a priority.
I have made sure I have reasonable prices and now offer financing available for all services. I do free drawings from time to time to give back.
