Meet Ashley Cooke

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ashley Cooke. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Ashley , so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
I have learned to be your true self; don’t follow the crowd. Express that difference to the world, and always do it from the heart. That my friend will be a treasure of gold!

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I have a 19 year background in the art industry . All which has been specializing in home design, makeup artistry, & fashion. I wanted to gain more knowledge in home design, and recently graduated from design school. I am now a certified Staging Design Professional, and soon to be certified Interior Decorator.

Expressing my artistry through a home gives me the same feeling and goosebumps, as when I am creating a makeup look on someone’s face! To bring love and comfort into a home, is seriously one of the best feelings!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Consistency, Set Goal Dates, & Patience. It sounds cliche, but consistency is the key to succeeding in anything! Think of what you want most as a baby. Put it on a schedule with structure, and with time it will be set up for success! If you want to complete something, set a goal date. You are more likely to hit that goal! All good things take time. Don’t rush anything, and let things fall in line. Trust the process!

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal client would be someone that has an interest in home decor and wants a change in their home, but does not know what direction to take in design. Another ideal client would be a real estate agent needing help with home staging to get the home off the market faster and for top dollar, or an Airbnb investor needing help to give their short term rental property that IG “experience” that everyone is wanting in a vacation now.
