Meet Ashley Elizabeth

We were lucky to catch up with Ashley Elizabeth recently and have shared our conversation below.

Ashley , we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

By learning to lean on Jesus, growing in my understanding of who he actually is on my own and not taking anyone else’s word, by being confident in the outcome.. I have faced many hard situations where anyone would want to give up. The times I have told parts of my story to people, they asked me “How did you do that?” obviously shocked by the life events which I casually share like they were just any other day. For a long time I would say “You’d be surprised what you can do when you don’t have a choice but to push through.” It was in those heavy, dark places I learned how to use the resources Jesus offeres after screaming and yelling at him about how unfair it was how much I hated it, complaining about how tired I was. He has always been so kind and reminding me He is not angry with me for not being “the perfect Christian”, his love for me is not based on my perfectionism or performance. It’s simply based on the value he placed in me when he created me. He is the only reason I can break down and want to give up for a short time, take a few breaths and a minute, then have the strength to get up, and do the hard things. His mercy and kindness are overwhelming, he gives me strength every day for that day. I also know the end result will benefit me, so as much as life can suck sometimes, I know if I keep going, I will come out on top. Simply because of his favor, his mercy, his kindness, his grace, definitely not because I am some good person.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am a photographer, I capture the details. I tell a story without words. I capture emotions. I paint using light and shadows. I tell a story using shapes, colors, expressions, textures. I get to look into people’s eyes and see parts of who they are that they maybe don’t share with the rest of the world but to a camera lens, there’s a shift that happens, people soften, they become more vulnerable and take off some of their armor and breathe for a moment. I am entrusted with a vulnerability that is not seen in every day. To be trusted with such openness is something not to be taken lightly, it is to be handled with care, respect and appreciation. The world is a hard place, creating a moment of peace and safety, making someone feel seen, listened to, that is what I try to do.

Recently I have been able to collaborate with some great people to build a space which allows others to tell their own story and have the opportunity to grow and share it. DreamScape Co-Op is a growing community of entrepreneurs.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Using time wisely. There is a gift in youth, it can be used to set you up in adulthood or you can party and have fun for a moment and work harder in adulthood.

Work hard, study your craft, don’t give up.

Asking questions. Learning from those ahead of me by asking basic questions until I understood. You don’t have to live up to the social media standard of having it all together of following the latest trends. Do what works for you even if it goes against the flow, if it works, it works!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

We are looking for creative entrepreneurs who want to challenge themselves and grow! Our team is excited to help the community thrive as well as providing a space for artists to build their careers.
