Meet Ashley Hargrove

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ashley Hargrove. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Ashley, so great to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. So, let’s jump into something that stops so many people from going after their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. We’d love to hear about how you dealt with that and persisted on your path.

I was taught you can’t please everyone – it’s impossible, but, you will always be able to please someone. As long as I know I’m trying hard, enjoying what I’m doing, while making people happy – I’m good. The haters don’t run your life – you do.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am an actress, voiceover artist, and writer. Catch me in the upcoming indie flicks Caroline of Mine, Marriage Bites, Skate to Hell, and Desert Fiends 2. You can find me in videogames such as AFK Journey and Lost Lands X. You’ll catch me in various commercials and cartoons as well! In between, I’m always writing something new and helping advocate for shelter animals.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

First, never stop learning! That was one of the biggest things I was taught. Doesn’t matter the age – there is always room for more knowledge. Next, no one is going to do the work for you. Finally, don’t give up! There are always going to be hurdles, frustration, setbacks, people that try to tear you down, but hang in there – things will get better.

For those early in your journey, know that you’re not alone, and we all had to start somewhere. It can get frustrating sometimes, especially if you don’t get a certain role, or even hit a slow period. Keep expanding, keep learning, and ask for help when you need it. Understand that none of us are perfect, but there is something we’re all good at. Don’t be afraid to slow down and study the world around you – you never know where it will play into your career.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

For me, I think it was really getting my foot in the door with voiceovers. I never thought I would have the chance to voice video games and cartoons! It’s pretty neat finding my voice pop up in various places. Plus, I ventured into print work and expanded in commercials and indie films.
