Meet Ashley Joseph

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ashley Joseph. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ashley below.

Ashley, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

As a child, you take your first breath and it’s almost like you just embody confidence and you know what it is. My parents really instilled that in me from a young age but as we get older disappointments happen, life happens and you have to find your way back. The way I’ve developed my confidence and self-esteem as a creator has been to confidently try new things and release shame and embarrassment for putting my art out there. I make art for people who love my art. I don’t make art for the people, and that keeps me grounded in who I am as a person.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I am a multidisciplinary artist. My focus is mainly on sustainability. I do a lot of upcycling and painting on clothing. I also make home decor items out of natural material’s like cardboard, clay, etc. anything that’s eclectic and indifferent is my thing. I specialize in individualism and I want people to know just like they’re one of one so are my designs and creations

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Mastering the art of pivoting. The only thing certain in life is change and if you don’t learn how to move with it sometimes you get left behind.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I’m looking for people who are passionate and love nostalgia people who have an open mind and who really take their art/gift seriously because art truly makes the world go round. The limits are endless when you work together. No one does it all alone.
