Ashley, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

I watch a lot of motivational videos on social media and I also use self affirmations. Sometimes its challenging because admittedly I am easily distracted. I also try to surround myself with positive people.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am Ashley K, R&B singer – songwriter. A few years ago I went to the studio and fell in love with music and the creative process. Now my focus is to make a living in music. The most exciting part is connecting with fans and hearing that people are connecting with my music. Also knowing that I inspire others makes me happy. I like people to know that I write for myself… I write from my own experiences so that makes my music more authentic.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

One of the best things in my journey has been having a few good people around me to keep me pointed in the right direction. Another would be the love for what I do. If you don`t love it, Its easy to quit when things get tough.
Experience is big. There`s really no better way to learn and grow than to make your own mistakes and learn from them and to feel the growth from experience.

My advice to people early in their journey is be consistent and patient. You have to be consistent with your work ethic while being patient with the results.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

That would be my producer and mentor RJ Full Range. He`s been through a lot and learned a lot so its good to have someone like him in my corner. Being able to lean on his knowledge and experience has been gold.
