Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ashley King. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ashley , thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
Listening to my favorite songs and artist like- Anita Baker, India Shawn, Babyface, and more, spending time away from music and just enjoying life and moments with the people I love, as well as putting myself in the studio and creating music.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a singer and songwriter from Atlanta, Georgia. Growing up in church, as well as having an amazing musical family. I have been around music for as long as I can remember and knew in some way I’d find my self fully submerged in it. From joining the praise team at church to being apart of the choir from middle school and high school school, to unapologetically signing up for open mics and jam sessions. My musical journey is all about discovery and flow, echoing what feels good not just in music, but in every aspect of life

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Listening, Practicing, and Being Yourself- these three things are important and I use everyday because they’re so practical and relate to not just music but in life.I would also correlate these to the wisdom I was told- to study the greats and learn from those before me. It was and still to this day is great advice because the questions on the “how to” and “why” could be easily answered because the artist before have been through a lot of the things we struggle with today. Also, they have overcome many things as well when it comes to artist management, splits, etc. We should always be open to wisdom, and have a heart to understand.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
Working with The Entellects and having support by Artists has been one of the greatest gift God has given me. Even with my experience in music and all that I have experienced, I have learned from them sharing their stories, their wisdom and advice on all things of this music industry. To learn, collaborate, bounce ideas off of, and to have them by my side feels like a beautiful blessing on my musical journey.
